Howdy all.

Business accounts have been a highly discussed suggestion that's been made several times (10+ times!), so I thought it would be suitable for me to merge all of them together to get a proper discussion made for it.

A full list of the ideas we have received so far are:
- Make a user choose whether they're a business or personal account at registration (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/141432/)
- Have a tag for users who are a Business account (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/141432/)
- Pay a small sum of money to become a business account (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/141432/)
- Be able to delete a business account (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/141435/)
- Have a 'Business account' tab on your profile where you can create one (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/141435/)
- Allow you to easily switch between a business and regular account (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/137253/)
- Carry account upgrades on to business accounts from personal accounts (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/133589/)
- Have a permission system for the business account owner to set permissions for other users utilising the account (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/108082/)
- Manual approval of posts by the business owner (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/108082/)
- Thread & post assigning to avoid double posting (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/108082/)
- Unified login so you can log in from your personal account, and add another password to your business account if the other user doesn't have a personal account. (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/108082/)
- Rename business accounts to company or shared accounts (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/95566/)
- Allow you to assign people to a business account through a list (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/91936/)

There's probably a few more ideas I haven't included in here, but I'd like your opinions. Lyphiard did create a system in the past for BeBosny, but it was buggy and required too much development with the idea he had.

Lyphiard's idea was that in your User Menu in the navbar you could click a button called 'Business Account' and from here you were able to create an account if you didn't have one already, and if you did have a business account it would let you edit the profile picture, name, etc. You can also give people permission to use your business account and it would alert them when they are. You are never really logged in to the account, but when you make a post you're able to decide whether you want it posted by your regular or business account which is pretty cool in my eyes.

It is also worth mentioning that in the past BeBosny stated that he was interested in completely removing business accounts, and instead allowing for users to have 'Business Threads' instead. He said this here: http://www.mc-market.org/threads/91936/#post-1072364 and his suggestion about Business Threads is here: http://www.mc-market.org/threads/90497/.

Personally, I think that business accounts is a great idea and Lyphiard's idea for them was fantastic, but I'm not the person who's going to be using them, you are! Any input into what you'd like to see would be greatly appreciated, I hope that we are able to get a system developed and released by the end of March.

Thanks.

I think this would be a great idea.
I wouldn't mind having a business account.
But I do feel like the staff should approve any business account before they proceed to have a business account.
---Which idea? This thread wasn't really presenting one idea, but all the ideas there have been in the past so that we can discuss everything as a community.

I definitely think it should cost something if a business account does get the icon/tag bit, but otherwise I'm not sure how I feel about it

Have a 'Business account' tab on your profile where you can create one - no

Allow you to easily switch between a business and regular account - Sure I guess?

Manual approval of posts by the business owner - Yes

Thread & post assigning to avoid double posting - yes

I feel that needing to have your business account application approved would make the most sense. Have a set of requirements to apply for one, then a checklist to be accepted.

Ensure each thread only contains 1 suggestion.
Kappa

Anyhow,

Make a user choose whether they're a business or personal account at registration
Would be good, though its just as easy to change to a business account after signup, so its not massively important.

Have a tag for users who are a Business account
If the tag looks nice, there will be people who upgrade their account to a business account, just for a free nice looking tag. All id need to do is code up a quick site, and a name for my services, then id be a business. Personally id like the tag if it was pink or possibly purple. http://fontawesome.io/icon/building/ would be a good icon for it. I personally like the idea, but mainly because I'd want a tag, I cant be the only one thinking that.

Pay a small sum of money to become a business account
I don't see a lot of point, unless it has the above suggestion implemented, there wouldn't be a lot of point investing money to make it a business account for most people. I don't see having to pay would add anything. You will still gain money by people purchasing account upgrades on them. Since they start off with no rep, a lot just buy supreme.

Be able to delete a business account
Yes, if the business is dissolved, the account could be hidden and disabled (so staff can still see it, rather than deleted). However if users where to later open a scam report, the responsibility for that would fall to whoever owned the business account.

Have a 'Business account' tab on your profile where you can create one
I don't see anything wrong with that, would make things a bit easier.

Allow you to easily switch between a business and regular account
I don't have a business account (yet) but I can see having to keep logging out and logging in again been quite a pain. This would save people a lot of time.

Carry account upgrades on to business accounts from personal accounts
Wouldn't be fair on those that have already purchased account upgrades, and if they really need a business account, just their own wont do, then $25 for supreme isn't a lot, considering they are a "business".

Have a permission system for the business account owner to set permissions for other users utilising the account
I can see that been quite difficult to code and setup, however that would help stop one person sabotaging the account.

Manual approval of posts by the business owner
Can be an option the business owner can set to true or false. Let each individual owner decide.

Thread & post assigning to avoid double posting
Chance of them both been on the thread at the same time isn't massively likely, and I cant see I've ever seen a case of double posting like this. However they can simply delete one of the replies.

Rename business accounts to company or shared accounts
Don't see much point in that, shared account doesn't sound very professional, and company is no better than business.

Allow you to assign people to a business account through a list
I don't see anything wrong with adding that.

(I haven't read all the replies to the threads, these are just my initial opinions.)

Well, Paying to have a business account should decrease the amount of scams.
I mean, if you pay, why would you scam?
I dont say it will stop all scams, I just say it will reduce the amount of scams going around here.

Maybe do the idea with if you pay xx amount, you can add another user under you that is a account with your business.
With a separate login etc.
