Hello Mc-M,

I would like to suggest that the reputation system should be changed so that only buyers and sellers can leave reputation on someone based off of actual transactions that occurred. I don't think the current system is working efficiently and as effectively as it was designed to. That being said I think reputation should be based on fact.

Indeed real-life reputation is based off of interactions that you have with other individuals, but this is not a social high archy. This is a business forum in which transactions are constantly occurring. That being said each individual has their own personality whether the individual is considered to be toxic, rude, ignorant, or kind. That shouldn't have an effect on their ability to do business. Negative and false reputation can have harmful and long-lasting effects on a person that is trying to go through with a deal or create a brand or image.

With that being said I don't think rep should be based off of opinions it should be based off of fact. I'd like to suggest that all reputation should be given based on transactions that are done with individuals.

Thank you.

I admit this may seem a little confusing, but I'm not saying you shouldn't submit negative rep on someone who is extremely rude and toxic. I'm saying that you should only be able to if you have done a transaction with the user.

For those that don't like to read.

Great idea; although.. False reputation still won't ever get removed smh; no reason to change system if the 'bs' doesn't stop
You're correct with the first part, but you're wrong about the second. With this system in place it would lessen the amount drastically.

You've neg repped me recently for something that was not done off a transaction. So honestly I think something personally invoked you to make this suggestion. Is this a good example of what you mean?

I think that having it for business only deals would be a good idea, so I agree with this thread. People are degrading the system with their opinions, false & revenge rep.

But, what about removing the reputation system completely?
Who really reviews another user's reputation before dealing with them? (I know I don't)

I think vouching on a users profile is sufficient enough, and there are no 'reputation system rules' to break as none of them apply.

Its kind of like we have two places where you can add your thoughts on users, profile pages, and the reputation system. I don't think it makes sense to keep the reputation system. Writing on a users profile page is more beneficial.

Removing the reputation system would remove the 'reputation competition' we have going on with this forum.

As your so called 'reputation' follows you around on the site, users get pretty hurt when they get negative repped.

The reputation system is just another place to moderate, like users profile pages, and it shares most of the common issues and also has a bit more of its own. Removing the system will lift a lot of weight off of the forum's moderators, and there will be less rule breakers as none of these 'reputation system rules' (which not many people are aware of) will apply.

I think the reputation system is a great idea for a business forum, however it isn't working very well with our community.

I guess my suggestion is better than keeping a broken system.
I completely agree with this; the reputation system has changed from a way to keep users in touch with the reputability of others on the forum into a game, in which people attempt to collect the most "positive reputation" as they possibly can, with the least amount of "negative reputation" (suggestion - Add forum MC-Market official forum competitions). Removing the reputation system would also give the forum a lot less hostile towards members with a smaller green number beneath their name.
I would bid but I don't feel like being scammed if you are not willing to use a middle man / have any rep..
[DOUBLEPOST=1505790257][/DOUBLEPOST]On top of this, the reputation system has also become a way for users (including myself at times [such as today, apologies to Wesley]) to sales trash on all of their threads by using false/exaggerated accusations.

I second this, when I was active almost two years ago there didn't seem to be these issues. There was a lot less tension and pressure to gain those reputation numbers in order to be respected. I understand the purpose of the system, but it needs to work feasibly.

Also, it's no problem! I also apologize for any inconvenience I brought you throughout the whole situation. Hopefully there will be no hard feelings in the future if we cross paths. :)

"Stubborn to work with, refuses to work with problems on his own premium plugins." It seems that the reason you received that negative reputation wasn't that it was incompatible, but because you were stubborn, which is a valid opinion for him to have.

Yes that's an entirely good example of what I mean shouldn't be allowed.
Not to point out the obvious, but you're the one who posted that rep...

This is the old system we had and we're not going back to it. The current system we have isn't ideal, but that doesn't mean we should change it without putting thought into the possible repercussions that changing it could have. Going from one inferior system to another will just cause as many problems as our current system has.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
