Charitable Fundraiser Idea

Hey,
I am a server owner who is currently not working on any projects however I had a long thinking session on my own on where the MC server community was going and all I see is servers milking money and not really giving back to the community and then I thought of a server idea where Each month is dedicated to a different charity such as Make A Wish or Save The Children or Cancer Research etc. The owners will get completely nothing and 85% would go into the charity we are fundraising for that month and the 15% into running the server and all these payouts to charities and statistics will be public for everyone to view. I just thought of doing this idea as most owners do 1 map and then sell the server but what if the mc community came together to actually give back?

Let me know your thoughts as I have currently spoke to Dexter and EmmaPlays and they are both on board with it

We are not looking for just Media Influencers but Developers and sponsorships to help raise awareness for different charities.

I will be working alongside hohos on this project

This has been suggested before in the past where people have had this idea. The main reason it never works out is simply due to the feedback from users. While I do think this is a great idea, a lot of users feel you will not hold up on your end. But, it's a good idea nonetheless.

I have never heard it before however thanks for letting me know and hopefully I can somehow prove that I will hold up on my end and if it goes to plan hopefully everything will be public and everyone will have access to our income coming in etc on the forums when it is launched as I am planning to make something to show all donations coming in public and to show all payments to charity public

You could possibly get a trusted member, to hold the money, and have it shown in proof.
Users would see this as motivation to play, and contribute.

Possibly and I am working with a trustworthy and known successful server owner hohos and hopefully I could partner up with a LLC to make sure this is all legit and is pursued properly

Yea, I register new companies almost every week in real life. There is a non profit option when creating a company, I forgot what it's called. But you are correct. Since GoodWill and others use this category.

Side note, I told Angel, I did this with a skyblock server called PartySB, we got like 10-30 players. And it was a player surrounded community, such as it wasn't pay2win, very eula friendly and it was a non profit server. Meaning it went to updates/charity/media owners.

If you're going to donate 100% of the proceeds to a specific charity, I would strongly suggest that you contact the charity organization for proper approval. I've done something like this before; however, it was just a 1 day event on an MC server, and I was told by the charity organization that I could not use their logo/name in the advertising and that I should have received proper and advanced approval. Just a heads up- good luck with what you guys are doing!
