Chat box Advertising

Hey there!

Lately I have noticed the amount of advertising has been sent in chatbox, an unbelievable amount. I’m now finding it hard to read proper conversations with all these advertisements. I feel as if we need a 2nd chat box only for advertising and that chat box can have a shorter delay between posts in that chat. Making it a shorter limit between advertising before didn’t make much of a difference. I think this solution could make not only the chatbox clean but it makes conversations much clear.

One of the main purposes for chatbox is advertising, that's the whole point. Everyone (even non-premium) can see the shoutbox messages so it's basically like a temporary front-page ad.

Then why’s there a point of people chatting in it?

It is meant for both. If there wasn't supposed to be ads in shoutbox there would be a rule against them. Instead there are multiple rules specifically acknowledging their presence

Understandable, I don’t like those blocky advertisements, they take over chat space (normal chat + advertisements) not a good smoothie

I personally disagree because I view MC-Market as a place to do business, rather than socialize. Advertisements in the shoutbox helps reach this goal.

Amazing idea, let's advertise where people aren't active or chat so our service/product will go out to nobody!
Your logic is hysterical.

If there was a separate chatbox for ads nobody would go in it, theres no point to purposely look at ads

Can we at least understand the fact that some advertisements are extremely blocky and have enough info to take a full quarter of the whole chatbox. I mean 60% of chat is big advertisements.

If there's a chatbox only for advertising, almost nobody would ever go there. Why would they?
It'd be like youtube asking you to go watch ads on a separate page from the videos, without any reward for doing so.
The advertising option should be for advertising threads on MCM. If someone's advertising their server directly, that's against the rules and you should report them.

Apart from that, if you see someone do little else than advertise, there's this beautiful option to go to their username, click the downwards arrow thingy, and click 'ignore'. From then on you won't see their messages. Problem solved!

This has been suggested in the past a few times, we don't want to have a secondary room or shoutbox for people to advertise as, like others have said, no one would even use it.
