I can confirm the WHMCS is nulled:

They could have bought a WHMCS license from a reseller, which from my experience wouldn't show up there

I have worked hand-in-hand with WHMCS resellers before and can confirm that reseller license is verified by WHMCS; meaning it would pass the WHMCS.com verification tool.
