Whats up guys, new here, got an important question for ya. This may contain offensive material but I need to ask it anyway as it is a pretty big issue with markets like this I've seen. So, uh, sorry?

Am I going to be competing with Indians? I really don't want to compete with Indians or the like. There is no way I am pumping out an entire mini game plugin or a mod for $1 and a half eaten turkey sandwich.

I ask because this was a daily experience when I was freelancing web design. I would quote $500 and "John Smith" would give em a call and offer similar for $5.

Honestly, you may think it is rude, but it is a common issue. I can't compete with India's economy and it has driven me out of several similar sites already. I simply cannot compete with the price.

It's a straight forward question based off of reality. They simply ask for less because our currency translates to much higher for them. There is also a lot of India based firms offering programming work.

Not every where. I have a few places they seem to not be interested in.

Also I am aware of competition, I'm not an idiot. I am just asking whether my competition here is going to be able to charge dollars for work in the hundreds. Seriously, this isn't a question out of malice, regardless of what you may think. I just have no desire to compete with the USD to Rupee conversion rate.

Most devs here aren't slave labor ones. They won't pump out high quality fleshed minigames if the client only pays $1-5. Minigames that are well coded and legitimately coded by experienced and non scamming devs cost triple digits. Not sure if your original post was a joke / racist toward Indians, but yeah here the market may be skewed but not for devs.

Ok, I never said anything racist. Just an honest question. I was on another Minecraft market system and it quickly got flooded with Indian programmers capable of just outright destroying the pricing.

It has nothing to do with racism, or slavery as suggested above. $1 is just worth more for them therefore can offer a much lower pricing then what is feasible for me and many others. I was literally outbid on a mini game plugin with single digit quotes. It was bad.

Not saying they do not have the right to do so, or fuck them or anything of the like. I just choose to avoid attempting to compete with them lol. Not everything carries racist intentions for fuck's sake. For instance if I was in the UK I wouldn't want to compete with an American either. At the beginning that's who I was competing with and the conversion rate made me a rich man in a short time since they couldn't match me. Its just economics.

On another note, there was some jokes and humor, but none of it was directed at them.

I believe MCM here launched in 2014... Idk of any other marketplace forum that is as old as that... being that MCM is #1 now... and has remained so for quite some time. Though I've only been here when Verringer stepped down for Mick, and even then I believe there was a previous owner before.

It wasn't a forum, it was some crappy market system. It ended up going belly up before it got big because, well it sucked, and punished people who got shafted because accepting a job immediately deducted their share before you got paid.

Your problem is that others can offer lower quotes because their currency is different.

You will obviously face competition but if your reputation is good and so is your portfolio then you will most likely get customers
(These threads don't help with getting customers just saying )

I'll let my skill speak for itself. No intention of doing work with the kinda person who sees racism everywhere either. Indian refers to their nationality, not there ethnicity.

I never said ethnicity mattered, but where they are based out of does, heavily. Like I said before, really has nothing to do with race and everything to do with their currency. At no point was anything negative even suggested regardless. Why do people do that? It's tiring. Anywho.

My general concern was with the fact is it becomes quickly slanted when your competition can actually quote $5 and make off like a king in their currency. Again, I pointed out that I wouldn't want to compete with an American as a Brit either. It would be near impossible, and I speak from experience as I love competing as an American on disproportionately British markets. It gave me an edge and I usually ended up with MORE than what I wanted because I was quoting in BPD. I had even pointed out above that there is nothing wrong with it if they were by the way.
