For those of you (like me) that use twitter to share your content, be careful. The new ToS says, in short, that anything you post on or through twitter will give them a license to use as they see fit. I am not sure yet if this applies to external links (say, portfolio websites), but until that is cleared up by someone with legal expertise in Intellectual Property, I suggest not sharing things.

It's unlikely twitter gives a damn about Minecraft content, but it is implied that this license is not just for twitter, but for anyone on twitter. Meaning that people stealing your content and tweeting it anew could become a thing.

If anyone has extensive experience in the legal parts of intellectual property, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I've already contacted several legal institutions with IP expertise, but it might take a while for them to respond.

It's becoming a trend, social media sites killing themselves by 'improving' or 'needed changes'...

If I remember correctly, there was some uproar about people stealing each other's tweets, which is probably why they did this. Just like the youtube thing was sparked by the pewdipie situation, though the videos of ISIS propaganda etc probably made it worse.
All in all, it's the worst/laziest possible reaction to a specific situation.

I think this is more twitter just pulling themself away from any potential lawsuits rather then a attempt on taking other peoples content. People already rapidly steal content from eachother on social media with near no consequences, so I dont know what would be different now other then twitter saying "look at tos" rather then saying "request to remove denied"

The problem is not what they WILL do, but what they CAN do. Imagine a law saying that each day, you could take a random item from your neighbours house without their consent (I know, poor analogy, piracy "only" copies). A lot of people wouldn't do it because they valued relation with their neighbours. But the option is the problem.
I agree this is mostly MEANT to protect them from lawsuits.

However, there is the example of PMC. As a content-submission website, PMC had terms similar to this. Nobody thought about it twice, until they updated the profile page layout to include banners, and included a bunch of pre-fab banners. These turned out to be cut directly from some of the fancier renders from people who had submitted builds or terrain. Those people were never asked or even notified that their work was being used (I know at least 2 people whose work was used).
That's the problem I have with this, that the option exists for them in the future.
