Hello just throwing out a suggestion feel free to give your opinions, I don't really get offended.
-For my time on the sight I had been mostly an observer, I watched as people would resolve issues and works things out. Now it has turned to one bad altercation and you are deemed toxic for the entire site to see
- I know this is not a big deal but it hurts certain people because rep is the main source in how to know if someone is trustworthy.
-I propose that rep be used for deal related interactions as that is what it most influences
-Everyone can probably agree that when going into a deal they check the persons rep and any negative throws up an immediate red flag. I have watched as people have been neg repped from conversations that didn't deserve it and now actively try to get rid of it becuase it hurts their business. This is a market place reputation should be based on sales and deals not if you didn't agree with someones view point in the shoutbox
- I consider myself to be new and there is a culture that I just don't agree with. Many times I have wanted to say something in response to an outlandish comment or attack but refrain as I fear a neg rep that will turn many people away as I have not done much business here.
- I think the reputation system has Brought a culture of negativity and has been used to censor users
- To leave a reputation one should have to provide a proof of purchase, link to the sales thread, or any sort of evidence
*I get why its used for toxicity and things like that but rep is used as the main marker for trust and I don't think being deemed toxic or something similar should affect how you do business. This is not a formal setting and I don't want to feel censored when expressing things to people I talk to

If they have something relevant and informative to say about you, then whether or not they're pissed that you left reputation on them first is irrelevant. They should be able to leave reputation informing others of that relevant information.
If they have nothing relevant and informative to say about you and they leave reputation anyways, they'll be in violation of rule 9.1 and you can report the reputation for removal.

Creating a "revenge rep" rule will only result in you having your reputation reported for removal if you happen place it after they placed theirs first.
Someone has to come first, that doesn't make the first person to leave it right, nor the second person wrong.
Reputation should always be judged purely on the information that's include. Which is what rule 9.1 is for.
Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
