For each group of 1 and 0, from the first cipher I counted it as one. Added each digit together of the final number (228 -> 2+2+8 -> 12 -> 1+2) and got 3. I cannot see any other hints. Unless you wanted us to do the same thing to your first 'type of code', I'm done here.

What is the problem? I manipulated the original cipher to get a number between 1-10, which part did I miss?
