I don't know much but I would think it's not worth it, from all issues you would get. I would just go with a company so you get support ect and would be easier for you and most likely cheaperHello im thinking of hosting a dedicated server at my house for a minecraft network but im not sure yet because i don't know much about dedi servers.
Do they need to be connected to my own wifi connection or does it have its own connection?
How much will it cost for electricity?
Is it worth it?
Im sorry if these are dumb questions but im wondering
i dont think the network provider will mind and i will ask for a bandwith upgrade etc...Depends on the power the server is going to pull do you know how much your parents currently pay per kWh? You'll need a pretty good uplink on your home connection to be able to handle any sort of DDoS attacks a basic Comcast (or whoever you use) connection wont do the job. You'll also need to speak to your service provider about what they allow on their network before starting anything at home last thing you want is your provider to boot you while running production at home.
alright thank youYep pretty much.
