Did Hardcore Factions kill the Minecraft pvp community, or delay it's death?

Depends on how you look at it. Most YouTubers from the HCF community moved on to Hypixel and so their community probably moved on to Hypixel as well. They basically caused their own destruction, the most toxic/hardcore PVP-based game modes are really factions and practice at this point.

Ehh not really. If anything HCF Grew the PvP Community. I wouldn't say it's killed it.

What about the communities that refuse to move on from 1.7/1.8? There are many players stuck within those versions of the game that has many limitations, yet people still stay only because of the pvp system.

To be fair thats minecraft making pvp dead. I'm sure the majority of people like 1.7/1.8 then the recent versions.

I agree with PrimevalYT, if anything it grew the PVP community. Even without HCF, most people would have still preferred the old combat system as HCF isn't the only competitive gamemode.

It was just general lack of interest. Fortnite came up around the time that Minecraft had died, and the rest was history until the late 2019 resurgence.

The PvP community has definitely died down, but it wasn't necessary HCF that killed it in my opinion. Ever since Kohi shut down, I've felt like the PvP community was never quite the same again, because back then, Kohi was like the central PvP oriented server, everyone played on it, it was incredible, and a lot of us back then took it for granted, which contributed to its closing. However, once Kohi closed, there wasn't a central PvP server anymore, and the community scattered, forming hundreds of different PvP servers, all copying one another, and filled with P2W features and items. Every PvP server eventually became the same, filled with the same gamemodes, plugins, p2w features and items that the PvP community as a whole grew smaller and smaller. HCF, and the PvP community definitely has a chance to comeback, if the community takes a chance to actually create something unique for once, and copycat PvP servers would stop multiplying.

Coming from somebody that has always been a staff member / member of the HCF community. Yes, it has made the PvP community more dead.

Too many servers have had too much bad things be done to them to continue a good role in minecraft servers.
Only 1 server dominates the other, which is Viper.

Now, faithful is allowing cheating on weeknights, and it will kill the community faster.

I think minecraft killed minecraft the generation that grew up with it are adults now or damn near adults. Theres just other far more engaging and fun games now a days that MC really cant compete with. If anything gamemodes like HCF incredibly increased its lifespan.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/680139/minecraft-active-players-worldwide/

This isn't true - Minecraft has grown. HCF did not make an immense impact on this. HCF did make a difference the number of players in the PvP community.

Minecraft does indeed remain a game with, on average, older players - but younger players are still joining the game, just usually not on java.

Don't think it grew minecraft or killed minecraft, just happened and left. People grew up and it was already on the decline

I would say no, HCF was a small community anyways, but i seem to think Minecraft is still large, there is ton of servers with thousands and thousands on.

I personally think it just shuffled the community around. I don't think more than a few hundred people decided to buy Minecraft just play HCF.
I think like any gamemode it grew and helped Minecraft. Anyone who left because of HCF would've left either way.

I only play on 1.8 is because of the pvp, i hate the 1.9+ pvp. It just ruined the game in my opinion

I've been in the HCF community for most of my time in the Minecraft scene, I started to play in 2017 and from my perspective as most people said, no it didn't kill the whole community but it lowered expectations perhaps? HCF servers are easy to make, you can legit buy one of the most well sold products on the market "Lazarus" and use it and you could generate income if you knew what you were doing and it might only cost you 100$ + hosting.

TL;DR No, it didn't it just lowered expectations.

I was waiting for someone to say this; thank you Brinille.

Do you believe that Minecraft was ruined after 1.8 because of the combat system update? Or do you believe that a majority of the pvp community stopped at 1.8 and never evolved because of preference?
