Disallow asking for vouch copies

So I have idea that I think is reasonable. The past view days Ive been seeing an enourmous amount of vulchers asking New Artist and Graphic Designers that have a portfolio and vouches for vouch copies I propose that we make it illegal to ask for vouch copies unless the Artist and or Graphic Designer specifies says they are doing vouch copies. Because as of right now new threads are being swarmed and spammed with people who just want some free stuff

That defeats the purpose of a vouch copy, since the vouches are an attempt to prevent scamming.
They might get a little less, but a scam is a scam. People scam after asking you to "send first" all the time, how is this any different imo

Personally I have to disagree on this, VC's definitely can actually provide a portfolio for those who are just starting, and if you are not giving them out it is very easy to either respond to the persons comment or listen in your post that you're specifically NOT providing them.

Agreed. Vouches mean pretty much nothing and aren't valid payment even for a new artist. Just use good sense. If you don't trust an artist then just don't commission them. Either that or take the "risk" of paying them for their services. I joined MCM without haaving any previous vouches that I recall and having done close to no commissions in the past. I never did a single vouch copy. My work spoke for itself so there was no need to prove myself. And I think that's how it should be. Vouch copies are dumb lol

I wouldn't call it "rude" or "disrespectful", but it indeed annoying...
I definitely agree with this as a suggestion. People way too often ask for vouch copies, mostly because they see something as free and think "sure why not".

That's not exactly true. You see, I only ask new members for vouch copies. I wouldnt ask you, for example, you're an amazing artist that the community knows. but if there's some dude without a profile picture with 4 posts asking to start a development service, of course I'd ask for a vouch copy, not for my sake entirely, but to verify his skills aswell.

Fair enough, that's a valid point. However I would also encourage people to PM the person offering the service instead of commenting on his/her thread as that can cause clutter.

Actually, vouches are valuable. just not from new members.
It's really hard for people to get started on these forums, since half the people on here assume you're a scammer if you're just new.
However, because I had a single person who was trusted and respected on here to vouch for me, I had a really easy time getting started.
Maybe specifically in the graphics business you didn't have any trouble, but in other sections it's not so easy.
I fully agree people with no reputation asking for vouch copies is bloody annoying, and should be discouraged. But the amount of good I, for instance, could do for someone just starting off by taking a vouch copy and vouching for them is definitely worth something small. It doesn't even have to be of particular value.

Here's the thing though...
If a user wants to do a vouch copy they'll do it. If they don't, they won't. What's the point of adding needless red-tape that'll just cause headaches down the line?

I'm fine with adding some sort of provision to give out warnings to members asking for vouch copies from people that aren't offering them and aren't exactly new either, but it should end there.

That's much too subjective. What'll determine if they're new or not?
