Before I right this, I just want to say this is in no way directed with hate towards any of those who sell these accounts in this section. I do not deny that they have value, but I, as well as several other users, do not agree that they have enough to be listed in the mentioned section; which is why I feel compelled to write this.
So what makes certain Pokemon names "unpopular" and why is this an issue?
It goes without saying that Pokemon series is world-known and has a wide range of characters, hence why almost every single Pokemon related name is already unavailable. However, it also goes without saying that certain Pokemon are more popular than others; more people recognize what "Pikachu" is over a newly-added, recently introduced Pokemon such as "Clauncher." The Pokemon franchise has introduced more than 100 Pokemon that are not nearly as known as the original first or second generation (including legendaries). The problem with this is that I have seen several users comment out of confusion about what a listed name in the OG accounts section means only for them to be told its a 4th generation Pokemon. With how many are being sold as of now, the flood of these confusing threads in a section meant for accounts that are, as most accurately defined, a common "verb/noun/place/animal," is harmful to the system and purpose of the section. As to why these accounts are not OG enough to fit under the OG accounts section, I believe 23jd83yhs208d summed up what I was trying to explain well.
"Let me provide some insight for you.
Pokemon names are not rare, only legendaries and most of first gen. This account name is not well known, and not worthing the price you're asking for as the starting bid only, nor not worth starring out.
So while yes, all the pokemon names are taken, they aren't rare and easy to come across here, typically being cheap. I sold Muk close to $100 because its a 3 letter name + a very well known pokemon. This is gen 4 and I barely remember this pokemon. glws." (thread: http://www.mc-market.org/threads/154208/#post-1619849)
What should we do about the issue? Why should anything be done?
As said before, the occurrence of these threads creates confusion, arguing, and overall flooding giving the amount of threads like this. The OG accounts section is intended to separate unique, rare accounts than those of less rare yet still retaining value accounts, such as these 4th generation Pokemon IGNs, that belong in the semi-OG section. As said before, this is in no way a rant/hate thread directed towards those who sell these accounts in the section. But I have seen enough complaints in the comments of these threads and widespread confusion to know that the flood of these threads are harmful. If I haven't said this before, I would just like to say I have seen pages that have had more than 6 of these names listed and it's a nuisance to come across almost a spam of these threads when you're looking to purchase decent accounts. It also again shows how easy and not rare these accounts are.
I propose that these accounts only be allowed to be sold in the semi-OG section. Another reason to support this is the fact that these accounts are priced for around the same prices of common semi-OG's in that section too, and sell for practically the typical price as well. (I've seen them usually go for $10-$20, when the BIN is set to something like $50 that's when everyone complains).
The benefits to this is that the OG accounts section would be more clean and accurate, there will be less cluttering of pages and threads, and less overall arguing, questions, and confusion.
I know this may seem like a silly issue, but like I said, I have seen many users genuinely confused by these threads and the cluttering of them when scrolling through pages looking to purchase accounts is disruptive. This has been going on for more than five months and I thought that at least someone should speak up.
Again, no hate towards the accounts or users selling them. Just looking to make MC-Market cleaner, more efficient, and accurate.
