Do something about Revenge Reputations

I've ran into this issue a countless number of times, but I've managed to always get around it and sort things out, people trash your thread you chuck them a -rep for thrashing and there you go you have your -rep and you have to remove your -rep in order for them to remove yours, reporting never worked (for me). It's a well known thing that should really be sorted out. Maybe making the report reputation system faster and better (again could be just me that's not getting my reps removed fast enough). But it's a serious issue and NEEDS to be sorted out. Here's what you can do

Method #1 - Negative/Neutral Bot Reputation check

• Have every reputation be checked by a bot, that way pointless neutral/negative reps could be removed

Add-on Method #2 - Verify the bots reputation check

• If you aren't sure the bot would do the job, get staff to check the reputations that the bot thinks should be deleted

Method #3 - More severe punishments for False Repping

• I think there should be a harder punishment rather than just getting your rep removed, maybe first offence a 24hr suspension, next one 5d suspension, or something like that

Method #4 - More severe punishments for Trashing

• Everyone has their opinions, but strait out trashing should done by using the same method about bot checking reported replies/threads (Method #1,#2) Punishments like not being able to comment on as many threads or something like that would do it, this would instantly calm the fire with revenge reps and -reps

How about just scrap the entire reputation system and create a "feedback" system where people can write a message about their experience dealing with the user. I know many people will probably just say "write it on their profile", but a feedback system would be strictly for experience and opinion on user. That way, bull shit comments could easily be filtered out when reviewing the feedback of a user before you deal w/ them.

What I believe should happen is that when you give rep you should be given a notification a few days later about the rep you have given asking if you would still like to confirm it. Once you deny/accept you have to wait a certain time limit till you can rep that particular user again.

You can only rep a user once. And as stated above, and in the rules, you cannot use reputation as a punishment.

And nothing was done with that information by the looks of it.

It's more to warn users that the person is toxic/immature etc.. rather than a punishment. I said there needs to be a punishment for FALSE neg/neutral reps

You can have your permission to use the reputation system revoked if you abuse it.

Yet I still see rep all over that clearly does not meet the requirements to be valid, if something was ever done there would be fewer reps to report. I report them frequently and it takes around a week to ever get them resolved.

Yes, but some peoples arguments is that staff aren't bothered about removing rep as much as they should be. So my suggestion stops inexperienced inactive users coming on and just giving bad rep and also gives people who are giving rep as a punishment a chance to change their mind. Instead of them giving the bad rep straight away and forgetting about it.

You are saying this stuff keeps happening because of trashing threads, can you show an explanation of what you mean? 99% of the time I see threads being "trashed" it's by someone being logical and asking a question and very very rarely is actually trashing a thread

I don't see anything wrong with revenge reps. If this becomes a rule you're just gonna be immune and someones not gonna be able to put his side of the story.

Such example, when you neg rep someone for trashing and they think that's a retarded decision, they're freely able to give you a negative reputation for being retarded. By rules it's a valid negative reputation as it's what the man thinks about you.
