90% of MC is not PVPing, especially with the rise of today's variation of skyblock servers. 1.8 and the old system is just the preferred way to play.I think it is slowly dying, because of the combat updates. 90% of the MC community is mostly PVPing. When the servers needs to get updated to 1.9 I am pretty sure that most of the MC community will die out.
A lot of old Minecraft Youtubers are coming back and playing the game after years and the one thing I've noticed is people are trying to say the reason behind this return are the new updates. Yet all these youtubers are playing on 1.8 which sorta disproves this theory.[DOUBLEPOST=1556580561][/DOUBLEPOST]90% of MC is not PVPing, especially with the rise of today's variation of skyblock servers. 1.8 and the old system is just the preferred way to play.
You guys think it's dying because you're a part of an older generation of players. I understand where you guys are coming from because I've been playing since 2012 and I personally thought that it was dying from 2015 (1 year after hub and OP servers came about) until 2018.
In 2015, Minecraft became so PVP focused and pay to win, or just focused on the same old mini games and arcade setups. Multiplayer just wasn't the same as it was in 2011-2013. But if t you started playing in 2014-2016, then those are your best memories of the game. What we're experiencing is another paradigm shift with multiplayer servers and really, the entire game. This means the death of the kind of servers that you grew to know and love. But there is way more to the game then just factions, op pvp, or minigames. People quit this game because they fail to see the endless options and possibilities that Minecraft really has. People want to stick with the familiar and when things change too much, well, it's not that the game it self is actually dying but rather your interest in the game is dying.
Minecraft is actually growing a lot this year. You can look on google trends and see the drop in 2014 and where it's starting to pick up again this year. Minecraft hit it's peak in 2013-2014 and it may just hit another peak in the near future. All popular games will hit a peak at some point, but they never stay there. The popularity of a game can go up and down, what's important is that it eventually hits a "sweet spot" where the game has a consistent cycle of growth and decline.
I think we can confidently believe that Minecraft will live on for decades. Tetris is the #1 selling game in the world. It took a long time for even Tetris to hit that spot, but Minecraft became #2 best selling game and did it in several years. It's an all-time cult classic. In the future, you may see your children playing minecraft.

I don't necessarily disagree with what you said but I wouldn't be quoting or using AntVenom as a source to prove Minecraft isn't dying. He's pretty biased when it comes to this subject and has refused to debate this topic when asked by other youtubers.
Yes I would love to but I just don't enjoy the "new" community of minecraft what is p2w and hcf. Skyblock is still a fun gamemode but it's getting terrible with everyones giveaways and the items that you can buy in store that isn't fair it's not really working it's just buy store items to be #1 at is top and get paypal money or buycraft coupons shit.Oh god, I hate talking about this topic. Especially talking about it in this community, if Minecraft dies most of us are going to be crying for money if we don't have jobs. Like most of the people on here are under the age of 13 and expect to make money from here their entire lives. I'm just worried that something I've been stuck on since the age of 9 is going to fade away one day, but I really want to be part of Minecraft for a lot longer than just 8 years.
Hypixel, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, will eventually fall just like every other server. It's only a matter of time before it becomes stagnant and other servers emerge. Take Mineplex for example, once bigger than Hypixel and thought to be everlasting, now reduced to a server that at times only has 1000 players online. There are alot of Minecraft youtubers that had alot views and now it's getting less. Almost all the players are at Hypixel & Minigames server I have played minecraft since when it was only people using hacks. But I feel like it's getting more bored after playing P2W servers like ViperMC. I miss the old good times where you play survival with alot of players ex. Rastacraft, Hollandcraft or the factions where the warzone was near and you could make a warzone base. I don't feel the game is more fun for me since I only like 1.7-1.8 and don't enjoy 1.9+ since the mechanics are different.
Cubecraft is like dead now.Hypixel, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, will eventually fall just like every other server. It's honestly depressing to see so many servers from the past that everyone enjoyed completely dead now. All that's left are the memories of what once was.Cubecraft is like dead now.
How do you plan on maintaining the server long term if you have no revenue coming in?Alright, so me and one of my newly close friends Stephen created a new Kits server. It's called Varent and we are bringing all the different versions of Minecraft into one. We have incorporated 1.7 until the newest version. This is a place where all the communities could have fun, and it's not P2W or anything at all because we decided to not even have a store for it.
Could you pm me the ip ? Maybe I will start minecraft and play it again.Alright, so me and one of my newly close friends Stephen created a new Kits server. Yeah I used to record videos on cubecraft where I had alot of fun back then but when I join cubecraft now I don't really have fun anymore full of hackers. It's honestly depressing to see so many servers from the past that everyone enjoyed completely dead now. That's what EULA compliance will get you. Servers can't sustain themselves for years off of only selling cosmetics. Mojang just decided that if you sell anything other than some pretty looking outfits you're breaking the rules.Yeah I used to record videos on cubecraft where I had alot of fun back then but when I join cubecraft now I don't really have fun anymore full of hackers.
I have income from other sources to sustain the server.[DOUBLEPOST=1556582393][/DOUBLEPOST]It's a for-fun projectHow do you plan on maintaining the server long term if you have no revenue coming in?
