There he is, NotSoBoop.

According to him he has the money to run something like this since he has always wanted to.
It's definitely possible to run a small server out of pocket as a passion project. If it starts to grow though that might not be reliable.

wut you guys think? I feel like Minecraft is getting bored and there aren't alot of players like before.
To be honest with this thread, I think Minecraft is bigger than ever before. I've been playing since 2011 and yes I know its died a little but if you are a server owner, editor, or even a youtuber, you are making bank. Minecraft has turned from a game just to play and have fun to a full on business proposal. Minecraft has changed many lives, including mine. I started playing on Originmc just for fun but as the game grew into a pay to win game, I changed my focus into a business mindset. Honestly if this game didn't change like it did. I wouldn't have most of the stuff I have today. So to summarize this all up. I think it died from 2011, but I don't think it is nearly dead at all.

All the new servers are just a problem it's just splitting the community which makes servers boring.[DOUBLEPOST=1556647204][/DOUBLEPOST]

Oh god, I hate talking about this topic. Especially talking about it in this community, if Minecraft dies most of us are going to be crying for money if we don't have jobs. Like most of the people on here are under the age of 13 and expect to make money from here their entire lives. I'm just worried that something I've been stuck on since the age of 9 is going to fade away one day, but I really want to be part of Minecraft for a lot longer than just 8 years.

This game has shaped a lot of who I am as a person, especially since I have been playing since I was just 8. Now, I'm 15 and this game is still a big part of my life and Honestly, it's sad to see it go like this. But it is making me get a life and find what I really want to be doing. But despite, I would love for it to be internet related as that is what most find to be the most enjoyable.

And if you (or really anyone) doesn't know what they would do once Minecraft is ”dead”, my best piece of advice is to explore.

Phew, that was a lot to write on my phone at 2 am.

Gaming in general this past year has been a little bit meh. There haven't been any new incredible multiplayer games that aren't extremely flawed or over hyped.

Minecraft is not what it used to be. They're focusing on adding new things than improving the few features as PvP. A lot of people quit when nothing was happening to the game, that's the reason people left. It was getting boring same shit over and over. Right now it's "fun" to experience the new 1.14 stuff. Eventually it will get boring, I don't understand how people still play the game and see it as fun.

You guys think it's dying because you're a part of an older generation of players. I understand where you guys are coming from because I've been playing since 2012 and I personally thought that it was dying from 2015 (1 year after hub and OP servers came about) until 2018.

In 2015, Minecraft became so PVP focused and pay to win, or just focused on the same old mini games and arcade setups. Multiplayer just wasn't the same as it was in 2011-2013. But if t you started playing in 2014-2016, then those are your best memories of the game. What we're experiencing is another paradigm shift with multiplayer servers and really, the entire game. This means the death of the kind of servers that you grew to know and love. But there is way more to the game then just factions, op pvp, or minigames. People quit this game because they fail to see the endless options and possibilities that Minecraft really has. People want to stick with the familiar and when things change too much, well, it's not that the game it self is actually dying but rather your interest in the game is dying.

Minecraft is actually growing a lot this year. You can look on google trends and see the drop in 2014 and where it's starting to pick up again this year. Minecraft hit it's peak in 2013-2014 and it may just hit another peak in the near future. All popular games will hit a peak at some point, but they never stay there. The popularity of a game can go up and down, what's important is that it eventually hits a "sweet spot" where the game has a consistent cycle of growth and decline.

I think we can confidently believe that Minecraft will live on for decades. Tetris is the #1 selling game in the world. It took a long time for even Tetris to hit that spot, but Minecraft became #2 best selling game and did it in several years. It's an all-time cult classic. In the future, you may see your children playing minecraft.

At some points it can be fun and at some points it gets repetitive but if Mojang fixes their combat system and actually make the game enjoyable and servers are actually good again then minecraft would start to populate again but for now it’s slowly dying
