Domain set up for website and mc server

I need help setting up my domain to my Minecraft server and website at the same time when-when link it to my server my website doesn't work. I m using name cheap and the user that created the website uses nameservers for it to connect but I can have a "A record" at the same time. Assuming I am reading this correctly, your website and your minecraft server do not share the same IP correct?
If so you will need to have a seperate sub-domain for your minecraft server or website.
For example, you could have the following:

MC Server: play.yourdomain.com
Website: yourdomain.com

Or

MC Server: yourdomain.com
Website: www.yourdomain.com

This is because you cannot have the same domain point to more than one IP address at the same time.

Not entirely true, you COULD use an SRV Record for mc server. But we all know how bad that is.
