Hello MCMarket,

About 2 weeks ago, I was banned for "Violation of TOS" (Age Requirnment.)

This was all because I was joking around and I said I was 7 years old. I think these kinds of ordeals should be thought of more and be carefully looked at, since a joke shouldn't equal a ban.

Thanks

a simple solution is a requirement to not have a sense of humor as staff

thebaum64 just to be clear, you took Recension saying “Actually I’m 7, excuse you” seriously? And that’s why you banned him, I’m not saying this to reiterate what others have said I’m just wondering. Also now I’m wondering what the process for underage users getting banned is.

hecc off.

would I get put in prison for 5 years for saying "I took drugs", even though they're illegal? no? grow the hell up.

EDIT: just to add to this, I can't fucking BELIEVE this thread. You punish based on actions, not words.
thebaum64 can you explain why you disagreed this? you're saying he'd be sent to jail for taking drugs

Please open a support report like everyone else.
Support request opened ages ago, you transferred me to some random staff members and my question is still UNANSWERED. How hard is it to answer questions?

This makes me wonder, to what extent to they take these posts seriously. If I said "I'm 4", would I be banned? If so, there is something seriously wrong with this website.

Yeah, there is. Mick is like, 16/17 and to be fair he's doing fairly well- he's trying.

However, some of the mods just arne't mature enough to admit to being wrong and that's a HUGE deal.[DOUBLEPOST=1519482336][/DOUBLEPOST]thebaum64 you've yet to reply to my previous post on here. If I truly am wrong then provide a good counter argument. If I'm not wrong then admit it.

Like a lot of people have said, staff can't just instantly know when/if you're joking...
Lets be honest, if a staff member can't see sarcasm in 'I'm 7', I'd question they're position as a Staff Member

Self-incrimination is taken seriously, no matter how funny it can seem. Innocent until proven guilty doesn't make sense to defend a user who was banned for confessing guilt.

I don't see how this helps.

CLAIM > Innocent until proven guilty doesn't make sense
REASON > to defend a user who was banned for confessing guilt

The result of this is that honest people are punished and liars are rewarded (by being able to remain a member of the site).

However, it's not just liars. It's whoever you deem to have been honest.

"HMM, I decide that X was telling the truth. BAN."
"I decide that Y was lying (or 'joking around'). KEEP THEM!"

This isn't to say that you can't ban for being an asshole. If someone goes around sayign "LOL I SCAMMED X, Y AND Z for $500" by all means ban them.

As Bucket and baum have said, we take comments from users saying that they're scamming or underage seriously. It is easy to say that staff should just recognise that it is a joke, but it is very hard to distinguish sometimes between 'jokes' and actual rule breaking. Just as "I didn't know" isn't a valid excuse, "it was a joke" isn't an excuse either.

Don't joke about your age and you won't get warned for being under age

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
