A few years ago, we were thinking about the state of game hosting industry, especially game server control panels. Even though gaming has become more popular than ever, most game server control panels back then were outdated and only a few that were maintained were good choices for production use. The situation hasn't changed much in the past few years, and during those years, we have been working hard to change that. We've been working on a new game control panel since early 2017 and we are finally reaching the final stages of development. Although we have been working on the product for a long time, we haven't shared much information about it publicly, and we thought now would be a perfect time for that.

Gametron is an upcoming game server control panel with focus on a modern UI and ease of use. Gametron currently supports Minecraft, and support for other games will be added in the future. As of now, Gametron is in beta and we're aiming for a release later this year. Gametron is a paid panel but priced competitively. We will also be offering a launch discount for early adopters and those who help us with testing and provide feedback before launch.

To get a better idea of what Gametron can do, here's a list of some of the features we've finished working on so far.

File Management and FTP

Gametron comes with a web-based file manager. You can use it to upload, download and browse the files of your game server. The file manager has a built-in text editor that allows you to view and edit text files and easily upload the changes back to the server. Files can also be managed using FTP.

Automated Installer and Updater

Our goal is to make using Gametron as easy as possible. We have created an automated installer and updater for Gametron master and slave. Installing and updating can be done by running a single command using SSH. The interactive installer asks for the information needed to install Gametron. The only thing you need before installing is database credentials to a MySQL or MariaDB database. The installation takes less than 5 minutes and is supported best on the latest version of Ubuntu. We are planning to add support for other distributions in the future, but Gametron can be installed on almost any distribution manually.

Mod Support and Custom JARs

Gametron supports Vanilla, Craftbukkit and Spigot out of the box. In addition, any custom JAR can be used by uploading it to the directory of the game server.

Mobile Responsive

Gametron has been built with mobile support in mind. Every feature has been optimized for mobile devices.

EULA Prompt

This small but convenient feature allows you to accept the Minecraft EULA with a single click. The prompt will appear when a server is started for the first time.

MySQL/MariaDB Databases

Gametron lets users create MySQL or MariaDB databases for their servers. Admins can connect database servers to Gametron and choose which slave (a server that hosts multiple game servers) is connected to which database server. For example, you can choose that all game servers hosted on slave1.example.com have their databases hosted on db1.example.com. This allows you to host databases in the same region as game servers for optimal latency.

Optimized for Speed

Gametron is a single-page application (SPA). Only a small portion of the web page is reloaded when when users interact with the UI. When Gametron is accessed for the first time (or the page is manually refreshed), only a minimum feature set for that specific page is loaded to make pages load quickly. The rest of the pages are preloaded in the background.

Fully-featured API

If you would like to automate tasks or access the features of Gametron outside of a web browser, you can use the built-in API. Our API has a 100% feature coverage, meaning every single feature of Gametron can be accessed using the API. Our goal is to keep the coverage at 100% by making sure every upcoming feature is supported by the API.

WHMCS Module

We have built a WHMCS module that uses the API of Gametron to manage servers. Supported actions include creating, starting, stopping, suspending and deleting servers and more. The WHMCS module is completely free to use.

This was a brief introduction to some of the most important features of Gametron. If you would like to see something else supported by Gametron, feel free to suggest new features and we'll be happy to implement them. Any other type of feedback is welcome as well.

this is just an edit of pterodactyl

I assure you, it is not. We have worked since 2017 on this.

an edit of ptero with some removed stuff and some added stuff XDDD

As told before, it is not pterodactyl. People can modify pterodactyl and thus have many features. However, a standard version of pterodactyl wont be as feature baked as GameTron is. You would need to know your way around pterodactyls code:)

Wouldnt that make selling this for profit against their ToS? And wouldnt that infringe upon IP and be grounds for a lawsuit?

Just because something is open source doesn't mean that you can edit the codebase and sell it as your own.

Again, the master, daemon etc is completly build from the ground up. We have not used any of pterodactyls code.

This is legit a heavily modified Pterodactyl. They have good grounds if they want to file a lawsuit as you have removed their branding and claimed it as your own custom panel.

And again again, this is NOT pterodactyl. Everything was made from scratch. From the master to the slave.
This kind of statement really annoys me if im being honest. Anyone that knows me and the team knows that we´ve been working since 2017.
I found these screenshots from 2017

That is false, just because Bing and Google are both search engines, does not mean they share the same codebase. There is a difference between copying an idea and copying code. If this is a modified version of Pterodactyl, then "GameTron" is infringing on Pterodactyl's Intellectual Property.

......

Some of the basic design and parts of the panel you have shown are identical to ptero

You could throw that on many, many panels around the world :)

As we already explained, this was used first - And then moved on with our own, very simillar to that. The code for the frontend is also from scratch. The frontend will to some extend be editable, and this is not the finished design.

At last, I´d like to tell anyone here saying its "pterodactyl" some issues that pterodactyl has versus other panels.

Pterodactyl is open source. That is great for the community and everyone wanting to use it. However, as some larger companies have proofen, the "discord support" that Pterodactyl runs is simply not cutting it for large companies. If a company is having a issue, they need someone directly within the team to respond, not via discord.
I admire the work Dane has put into pterodactyl, and if we were competing with pterodactyl, we would also go open source and free - But we are not. Furthermore, we will be offering some features that pterodactyl (standard installation) wont have. You´d need to know your way around pterodactyl to install those features.

If it was Pterodactyl, why would we remove the option of having a colored console? -> GameTron is still in development, which means, something like a colored console is still on our to do list.

Im sorry if I come off rude in my answers, but it annoys me alot that we´ve been working hard for over 2 years, and people directly assume that we re-used someone elses code to gain profit.

At last, here´s some nostalgia screenshots to show that we did do design changes, and I hope that users can see it was not based off Pterodactyl:

I said "if", I don't know so I cannot say for sure. But if you are not using their codebase, then good luck on the project and I hope it does well.
