$3,000? And how much does the site make each month/year? Seriously come on.
about $3000. Per month.
This thing costs $3000. Per month.
This would completely eliminate any profits and even risk losses per month.

And thats assuming there are no attacks at all. Actual attacks would raise the costs.

I don't think the forum was on a aws server then but I can't say for sure.

Well BeBos risked it everyday and everything went fine did it not?
I dont think bebos used this specific service, especially since he only had access to half of the site's funds.

Ajdin ran the site perfectly, so there is no excuse as to why Mick should have any difficulties, especially with the team of "professional" system administrators (which there is no proof of there even being a team). I am not entirely savvy with hosting and so on, but what I do know is that this site has been down for hours on end, with no explanation, apology, announcement, anything. The downtime is completely unacceptable and is degrading businesses and damaging trade deals. As other more experienced people have said, the hosting this site is currently being run on is not suitable, and this is backed by the downtime.

Ajdin had half the funds Mick did yet still ran the site with minimal unexpected downtime. I know Mick will claim my comment is "unfair" or will say that is not his/his team's fault for the downtime. It is his fault entirely and he is the only person who can rectify the issues. The system administrators should be available to either fix these problems or deploy systems where they are not needed to be active. This proves clearly how Mick deals with problems and disregards criticism, including help offered by the best system admin this site has had (Ajdin).

Another thing. As Samuel said, I am sceptical as to whether this downtime is being caused by DDoS attacks. A piece of evidence I can provide against Mick's claims is the varying error pages displayed while the site is down. At some points, the maintenance page is shown and at others, the CloudFront error page is presented. We definitely need more transparency from Mick and a proper address to these issues, not just a few chatbox messages.[DOUBLEPOST=1487173065][/DOUBLEPOST]

Mick should be prioritising fixing the site, not his substantial profits at 15 years of age.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but if a Apache/NGINX/IIS + PHP stack is under attack it will return 503 or 504 if it times out or refuses to handle the connection. From my previous requests, there have only been 17 instances where the server replied with that.

However there were 54 instances where the HTTP engine responded, but it was an internal error which indicates PHP threw a error which was finally caught by the compiler which returned 500. So 54 times * 5 (minutes between queries) = 270min of downtime due to errors within PHP, not by a DDoS issue.

Mick overall just doesn't care about what the community wants for this site.

You do have to admit, Mick has some better qualities than Ajdin had. As Mick did the water.org fundraiser, and Ajdin had raised no money for charity. Mick has heart, and that is about the only quality I like about him. As for the other hand, Ajdin knew how to run the site and how to use his money effectively, Mick appears to be having a hard time with that.

What we should do is switch to Cloud Fare again and use their DDoS protection. As for the fact we switched to Cloud Front, I don't really see a reason. As Cloud Fare was working just fine.

If we're giving Mick money through advertisements he definitely cares about the well being of the site. We've switched from CloudFlare to CloudFront because the system was moved to AWS and AWS uses CloudFront.

No transparency was provided about this "professional company" running the company. I honestly doubt they are doing anything since there are no staging servers being used to test add-ons before adding them. No company will modify code on a LIVE server. Simply unheard of. I think Mick himself might be adding the add-ons himself but who knows, we don't get any transparency on those issues.

I really don't understand Mick's process of thought right now, especially since he is keeping us completely in the dark.
It seems like it would be simpler, better and easier to fire the shitty system administrator team, get a new one, and move the site of off AWS. Then just put on CloudFlare again.

There has to be some reason as to why Mick, can't or won't do this. But we couldn't know, since we're completely in the dark.

Shouldn't the free plan of Cloudflare be sufficient enough to deter 'some' of the attacks? I know it doesn't filter all attacks with the free plan but I'm just curious.

Plus Cloudflare is very cheap. Their highest tier costs $200 (Business plan) as opposed to AWS Shield which is $3,000. Also, Cloudflare doesn't charge for bandwidth since they offer unlimited bandwidth. Furthermore, Cloudflare offers more than just CDN and DDoS protection for $200. All its benefits is worth the price. I don't know why you people are looking at AWS for protection. I know MCM is hosted in AWS' network but that shouldn't prevent using a third party CDN. Using third party services is never a bad idea, especially when the third party service works better.

BeBosny used the pro plan on cloudflare ($20 a month). Was all good back then. Cloudflare is the way to go.

Just to bring it back up, cloudflare offers a business level DDoS protection for like $200 or something a month. And not my expertise but instead my opinion. Plus aren't we using cloudflare right now?
