Happy Birthday system

We should have a happy birthday thing for when its people's birthday, we are a really close community and highly interactive. I think it would be a great feature, where a notification on the side would pop saying the birthdays of what users were on a set day.

I feel like it would be cute, even if it was just a little icon by your name when you click on someones profile. Of course, idk how much work it actually is, but it could be a cute idea! Then I'd know when to draw gifts for people. ;3

Just because it displays someone's birthday doesn't mean it's a social media site. Either way, according to Oxford Dictionaries, MCM falls under the Social Media category anyway:

It's a community, it's a market, it's a social media, so what? It wouldn't be too horrendously bad to add a non-intrusive birthday widget to the front page. (Especially if it's only for the people you follow).

What if you could enable/disable the ability for it to appear publicly(everyone on mc-m) or in your group (Ie. People who follow you, or you follow) ?

That would be a better idea to have, yes. And also have the option to disable it entirely for people who don't really care, or don't have a group, etc.

Honestly the icon next to your name is a good idea. Like not on the bit next to your post...:

But on the info page when you click on their name a bit like this:

Would be a cool little feature. Maybe add the icon to their profile too? Or a little box saying its their birthday wish them a happy birthday? (on their profile)
