TacoSpigot 1.8.8 is actually very well optimized out of the box. If you're wanting to handle like 100+ players in a single chunk though then that's when you'll need a Spigot fork that is more optimized for that sort of stuff. Just an FYI in case you aren't expecting that many players where having so many players in a single chunk wouldn't be common.
