I would like to see everyone's opinions on these suggestions.

I'll start with mine:

We're coming out with a new system for organizing vouches/devouches and reviews. A lot better than just a button on a profile.

I'm not the right person to give an opinion on this. I already moderate to the degree that I believe is most beneficial to the community. Let's see what everyone else thinks though.

I've been suggesting this for a while. I've yet to hear a counter argument as to why it would be a bad idea.

Why did you suggest this? Why server sales specifically? Aren't new members able to abuse any sale? They have to be able to make posts to get their posts up to 50, and server sales are no exception.

This has been brought up multiple times, and many people agree that it would be a bad idea. Staff being voted in by members would make it a popularity contest.... Just like the united states presidential candidacy... And we all see how that's going... #Trump2k16

1. all very well to say that but we have seen no indecation of it yet.
2. you know my opinion on this already.
3. good suggestion with no counterarguement that you said you suggested for a while, yet nothing has come of it....
4. the biggest sales go through on servers so that came to mind fastest.
5. depends on how it is done, if people have to list why they feel they deserve staff than current staff can use it to make an informed decision.

1. We're having a new system implemented in the next update.

2. Elaborate on this? We already have set guidelines to follow. I've seen your reports and they're mostly reports of people joking. We give verbal warnings to people who break an actual rule and a 1 hour kick if repeated and so forth.

3. +1, was supposed to be a feature for supremes originally.

4. I see where you're going with that, but it'll just encourage spamming to get more posts.

5. That would make it more of a popularity contest. I think it's best for the admins to pick who they see best fit for the position.

Many of us joke occasionally. I even told you it was a joke so I don't see what you're on about.

I've seen other reports from you like someone said "NiggaLLC" and you reported that for "Racism" even though it's obvious that he was joking.

I agree, hence why I never use that term. However, warning someone for saying it in a joke is ridiculous.
New suggestion. auto filter words such as this. no more issue....

All of them suck, except probably number 2.[DOUBLEPOST=1455367551,1455367386][/DOUBLEPOST]

Hillary Clinton will win it, most likely, not Trump. He'll get the Republican nomination, but won't come anywhere near to winning the election. As far as presidential candidacy goes, it should be a popularity contest. It's called a democracy, people will vote based on popularity. The same way Kanye West wants to run 2020, and will most likely not get it (or well, I sure hope not). How many people do you think actually know and care about politics?

It is because of this flaw with democracy that the United states was not made into one.
We show many democratic qualities, but we not not a democracy. We are a republic.
Living in an actual democracy, where 50.1% rules over the 49.9% in everything; where you can have all of your rights stripped from you in an instant, if > 50% of people decide they "don't like you", would be even worse than tyranny.
The majority cannot be trusted.
A person is beautiful, a person is brilliant, but people... People are the most insane, most moronic, most unpredictable and merciless monsters in all of existence.
As democratic as the presidential nomination system may be, and as many flaws as it has, it is a whole lot more suited to be a democratic system than voting for staff on MCM is.
The president, at least, acts in the public's eye. Everything he does, they know about. Everything he doesn't do, they're screaming at him over.
MCM staff are a whole different story. A lot of what they do, you'll never see.
If you spend a lot of time in the shoutbox, and you know for a fact that you have never ever once seen this staff member talk in there, or if you spend a lot of time in the forums, and you know for a fact that you have never ever once seen this staff member engage in conversation/business, you might assume they just don't get online; and you will therefore not like them.
Where in actuality, they might spend all of their social time in one, and not the other.
Or they're just too insanely busy answering reports you neglect to make, removing spam you didn't post, banning people you don't talk to, writing rules you never read, fixing bugs you haven't noticed, and adding features you're too nostalgic to utilize....
With staff being a very influential force on all of our MCM lives, I'm all for transparency and knowing who they are, etc... Absolutely. Anything less wouldn't work.
But the staff who can and do work day in and day out for this forums and it's people without the recognition, and without the praise are the people I admire most. They deserve the role, and we deserve them for the role more than anyone who simply knows how to talk a lot.

And that's how I feel on that particular subject. >.>

Well, being British and not American, I don't have feelings so much on the topic other than presidencies in general aren't really democratic. I hate the idea of presidency and I think it's a system waiting to collapse. I can see Congress debating it over in the US and eliminating the charters and coming up with a new system soon enough. Here in the UK, the PM is just the fall boy, to take blame and responsibility. Just how the Queen is a figure of history (aka, the days the UK was powerful, British Empire and whatnot, I guess over in America they don't teach how the British Empire was the greatest empire in the world, unfortunately it came to an end). Anyway, the whole idea should be scrapped. It's a popularity game now, back then it was a good play.

Anyway, America isn't a true democracy anyway. It has 2 political parties, essentially. Democratic and Republicans - a real democracy has much more (i.e. the UK, even though Labour and Conservative are the only ones for a majority ruling for the HoC, more get into the HoC for their say).

When you got onto comparing that to MCM, I completely lost you.

As far as MCM staff go, I take back my previous comment saying about 4-5 of them are competent - two are, and I think one of the two is just shaded by the work the other does. It's pretty obvious who does all the work around here, and it's strange because I started out thinking they were blatantly stupid. Turns out, they're actually pretty good with forums. I'm not sure what changed their thinking from childish to a business, inventive perspective on things, but they're probably the only reason this place has some sanity at all.

I'd refrain from naming, but it's obvious who it is. Look in the announcements section since Mr. Founder left, minus Mick's hilarious announcement, one person has done all the work.

Moderators here, lol, they're useless. Easily offended kids, to be completely honest. Though, I don't have any interaction with any of the newer ones.

Anyway, this place is far from a democracy, any forum is far from a democracy. Both are incomparable. This place is a(n illegal) business, that's what it is. A forum in general is a business.

vouch button on profiles

Our new reputation system will cover this.

stricter chat moderation

More chat moderation? I don't think the community would like that.

self thread locking for supreme members

This isn't a core feature of XF. We might look into getting it developed down the road.

no creating posts in server sales with less than 50 posts.

Can you tell me the exact point of this? Would only encourage postfarming.

staff applications (require a poll and let people vote) < only to help show who members see deserve it.

No. It would be a popularity contest or people would just people for votes.
