High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Latest. Chances are high the XML file is incompatible.
XenForo doesn't really break over versions. It's not like Minecraft plugins, luckily. As long as it supports v1.2.x and higher, it'll support 1.5.5 (latest), most likely. I don't think an add-on like that would break over changes throughout those versions anyway. The XenForo team always reduce compatibility problems. The biggest one was probably the template modifications system in 1.2, which makes a lot of new add-ons incompatible with older versions.

It'd still work, but I find the thing useless. Maybe a "mark as sold" button is what you need which also permanently locks a thread.

I remember a lot of addons broke after this update. It's only a matter of updating a XML file but my point is that it's not compatible out of the box.[DOUBLEPOST=1455545021,1455544984][/DOUBLEPOST]

We're a marketplace after all. I'd only see this being useful after selling something.

Well, that is actually updating the code. That should've affected literally no add-ons. About 0.01% of all add-ons to give an idea of how small we're talking (not exact figures, just figuratively). That applies to add-ons storing certain objects in certain caches, very rare. It doesn't break all add-ons past the 1.5.3 update, and doesn't affect the XML file.

XML file contains installation and add-on data pertaining to actual PHP code, along with template additions and blah de blah. So the XML file tells XenForo what the add-on will be doing and where. The PHP code makes up the blueprints.

Self-locking threads has already been implemented for certain forums. If you edit your prefix to "Completed", for instance, the thread will automatically lock.
