I'm saying this right off the bat, I know how cringe the amount of hosting companies that already exist are, but regardless, I'd like your opinion on it.

What do you think about a company that allows you to buy the server, and then split it up how you'd like. Sure, you've seen the idea, but id still like to know. So instead of having your same "4GB MC Premium" for the 1000th time, you buy the server, and then can split up the ram/storage how you'd like, as well as change the egg (based on ptero ofc).

For example: You buy a server with 16GB Ram and 100GB Storage.
You could split it up something like:
  • 8GB Main MC Server with 20GB Disk
  • 4GB SMP with 10GB Disk
  • 300MB Discord bot with 5GB Disk
  • 1GB Lavalink with 5GB Disk
  • so on you get the idea

Again, we've all seen way too many hosting companies, but regardless- what do you think?

Why should someone buy a server you can "split" when they can buy an VPS and do everything themselves? Most people dont buy "normal" Minecraft servers anymore

Then I encourage them to do so, it’s a better deal, but this service is for those who are not as good with pterodactyl or Linux or would just like some help with their server. Also, I’ll take your word for it, but a lot people I’ve spoken to still purchase regular servers.

Seen it a lot now. Not sure if it'd be as good of an idea as you think. Regardless, good luck!

If you run a hosting company, I would go into VPS'S. I have tried hosting with MC however people were asking for VPS'S / Dedicated. Every server that is a bit better, run of VPS or DEDI anyway.

An idea was to run off of fully virtual servers, though I'm not sure if many people would have a need/caring for that even. Thanks for the feedback!

The problem with starting a hosting company is that, there is a lot great hosting out there already, which means that you need to beat their price to get customers.

Yeah, that's an issue with every hosting companies. I guess I'm curious if my idea would be something that stands out from the competition already.

Great idea, however, definitely be executed before.

Idea: let your customers only pay for the usage they use.

For example, if they buy a 4 GB minecraft server, but they only use 2 GB. Then let the customer pay for the 2GB used and not for the full 4 GB

I think it’s a good idea, your best bet would you doing this in a way where you a Minecraft host reseller for those startup hosts that don’t want to put a lot of money down for a dedi to start

jHonestly, if you really calculate, $1.5k for a top notch ryzen server, vs paying 10 months for that same exact server on ovh, while with that yes you have to pay $50/mo fees but in the end it'll be much cheaper rather than dropping another 1.5k later to buy a dedicated
Sure, but what if you don’t have that money to start a host, or if it ends up bad and you don’t want to deal with selling a server, or you don’t need that whole dedi to start. Not saying all hosts are going to use it, but it’s something a host can start with and then grow to a dedi once sales are there
