The purpose of MCMarket is simple. Allow users to interact with a community of sellers and buyers of various minecraft, CS:GO, and other items/utilities/accounts.
In order for MCMarket to be successful, it has to do the best it can possibly do at achieving its above purpose. Unfortunately, I've noticed a steep decline lately in MCMarket's usefulness among buyers and sellers. Fortunately, this decline is very easy to diagnose and with proper awareness (the overall purpose of this thread) MCMarket can once again be an extremely effective way to buy and sell online stuffs.
The first (and most important issue) I'd like to tackle is, why has MCMarket become less useful? The answer, to me, is simple. The users. It honestly seems as if 95% of market threads on this site end up as failures (meaning the threads purpose was never fulfilled) either due to the seller being a scammer or not providing the services that they stated in their initial post. Furthermore, many threads end up in a combination of flame wars, sales trashing, backlash from the buyer, and several reports to staff members. This has honestly gone on for so long, that I can barely remember the last time I saw a thread where there were no strings attached and no sales trashing. I hope that many of you guys see where I'm coming from and agree with me. We are the MCM community, and as a result of that, we have the ability to make the environment within these forums better.
Here's some things we can all try to do to make MCM more effective.
1. Don't scam. You're not going to get away with scamming, so there's absolutely no point in trying it. I know that even $20 is a lot of money for some people, but if there's people out there that have earned $20 legitimately, you can be one of those people too. Far too many times, I see people join these forums and try to scam and then say "I don't have any money, I just wanted to make some money quickly". The thing is, the only way you can really be successful around here is to learn a skill or find a market niche, become more trustworthy through earning vouches and gain exposure by working with people and being an overall nice guy. I know this doesn't seem easy, and scamming can make you some quick cash, but an amount of money, big or small, is never more important than your reputation. You don’t have to love the work, you just have to crave the results.
2. Don't sales trash. We've all done it, including me. Tons of threads are for things that aren't worth the price. Tons of threads are by people that can't be trusted. Tons of threads aren't worth looking at in many cases. No matter the reason, sales trashing isn't acceptable. There's always a better solution than to ruin somebody's attempt at pursuing the purpose of these forums, even if you don't like how they choose to go about it. If you wish to criticize a thread, be nice, helpful, and considerate and this overall will make you a more likable and trustworthy person and earn you connections and a better overall reputation. If you think somebody is scamming on a thread, simply report it and provide information to the moderators if applicable.
3. Respect Everybody. You may not like somebody. That's completely understandable and there's absolutely nothing wrong with disliking a person. However, everybody, no matter who they are deserves respect. Respect isn't earned, it should simply be given to everybody you encounter. With this mindset, if everybody is able to show everybody some form of respect, there will be a lot less bickering and drama on MCM and with that, the forums will become a much better environment. Not everybody is as experienced as you may be in a certain area. That's okay. There's no need to talk down to anybody because they don't know as much as you. If we all work together, and try our very best to be considerate and respectful of those on these forums, everybody will be able to be more productive overall.
4. Value Your Reputation. When making a deal with somebody, reputation is the most important thing. As a matter of fact, reputation is arguably more important than the specific item for sale, or the money that's being received for that item. As long as you maintain your identity, your reputation will stick with you. In all things, a reputation is harder to build than to destroy. Building a good reputation requires effort, patience, and time. Destroying a good reputation only requires a single moment's misstep. The secret to building a good reputation is to become a person who deserves one.
Note: The following section isn't actually by me, but I feel it's extremely important to note and I honestly couldn't have said it better myself. If you want to learn more about the importance of a reputation, check out this article (it's the source for the next four paragraphs)

You can't stop others from maligning you, but a good reputation can come to your rescue when other members of your network rise to your defense without your even knowing it. We are, in fact, all caretakers of one another's reputations. In a society in which simply being accused is enough to render a conviction in the court of public opinion, we would all do well to presume not only innocence but goodness until facts prove otherwise. We all need to be kinder to and gentler with one another.
A good reputation provides you a target at which to keep aiming. Sometimes you may not feel like you deserve your reputation, that's it's better than you are. Rather than lament your weaknesses, let your good reputation serve as motivation for you to try to improve yourself.
A good reputation represents a great marketing strategy. When I find a service provider of any kind whose performance outshines their competition, they become like gold to me. I use them repeatedly, recommend them enthusiastically to others, and don't begrudge paying them what they're worth.
A good reputation inspires others. We all need positive role models, even the best and brightest among us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do not doubt that people will call me an optimist for suggesting the above things. However, if you know me, you'd know that I'm a realist. Do I think that a single post can change these entire forums for the better? No. However, I know for a fact that if even just some of us take this thread into account and make it our prerogative to make MCM a better place, MCM will gradually become much more effective at achieving its purpose of allowing users to interact with a community of sellers and buyers of various minecraft, CS:GO, and other items/utilities/accounts.
TL;DR/Conclusion All of us have mutual goals and reasons for using MCM. Instead of getting in each others way of achieving those goals through sales trashing, being disrespectful to one another, and scamming, it would be far more effective if we simply worked together so that everybody can benefit.
