Pruned 5 pages worth of BS and gave a lot of warnings.
A long time ago I submitted a suggestion about auctions.
I still see it - people creating auctions with no BINs or end dates, and people who bid but never pay when they are the highest bidder.
I wonder if the rules I suggested were to have gotten passed, that maybe MCM would be a better place today.
I still do think if the rules I suggested were to get passed today, MCM would still benefit.
Concerning sales trashing - Just don't do it. When it gets reported, you get warned and your post gets deleted, and you typically get reply-banned from the thread.
Offer constructive criticism. "Hey this is kind of bad, but here's what you can do it improve it: _____" or "I don't really like _____, but you did a good job with _____".
Sales hijacking - same thing.
What you are allowed to do is create your own thread, offering basically the same product (same price, cheaper, free, whatever) just as long as you don't advertise it in their thread in any way.
The whole respect thing needs to be emphasised.
We see it all the time. Someone gets a lot of posts / rep, they think they are the king, and they start treating everyone else like peasants, and that's how they get banned.
