Say someone built me a factions spawn that looks something like this:

Say the file they send of the schematic is 2 kb in size. Now, if I don't get around to ever opening it for whatever reason is there any possible way that schematic can fit that build? It just seems too small of a file to me. Any thoughts?

Schematic files can be bigger depending on the actual size of the build.

Yes, I agree. What I am asking is if a whole factions spawn can be that small? From my experience just one of these cannons came out to 1kb, this windmill came out to 8kb, and a 4th of this very small spawn came out to 89kb.

Is it possible that a build of the size shown in the first post ONLY takes up 2 kb of space?

Just based on the size of 2kb would the file have to either be broken or not contain the build that it is stated as containing? Or is it possible something that big could be condensed to a file that small?

Oh, I see, I am not completely sure. Some of my 50x50 koths are 6kb+. So I find that a bit weird.

Schematic files are in the kilobytes usually.
However, they have a certain base filesize which probably lies close to 1kb, which means any schematic will be that size.

As for the rest, I would not be surprised if it has to do with block transparency somehow, or maybe with air blocks.

The transparency probably does play a role in the size.

My faction spawns usually end up in the hundreds of kilobytes. I've seen others have some that are about 50 kb. I don't see how someone's could end up only being 2 kb. Something seems off about it. Like it doesn't really contain a faction's spawn. Even a giant cube of stone would probably be bigger than 2 kb.

It depends on how the format is written. if it's written in a way that it contains instructions per 'volume', a giant block of just stone would be simply "20 blocks x, 30 blocks y, 20 blocks z from origin is solid stone". Something consisting of a lot more stairs and slabs might be counted differently, though. Try it sometime, replacing all blocks in a spawn with a single solid block before making it a schematic.

Seeing this build i would guess file size needed should be around 50 kb.

Does your .schem file works and actually paste a whole build? ...if it does then i'm surprised:eek:

I don't have access to worldedit on a server where I can pull the schematic off right now. I will try a solid cube later. This is what I could find right now.

Its a cube with a few holes and ladders inside it. 50 kb. Sure, a solid block will be smaller, but could a factions spawn be done correctly and be 25 times smaller?

I don't know, I don't have access to the schem file in question. I do think this is important to figure out though.

In that case as far as I can guess your .schem file won't work properly...at least i have never seen so large build in such a small file.

Maybe you know how .shematic was made? (MCedit, worldedit, plotsquared, etc)
