How do I make my Survival Server even better?

Hello, I am currently looking for some feedback & some constructive criticism for my survival server. It'd be greatly appreciated if you gave feedback on a few things such as gameplay, artwork, balancing, economy, & overall in-game aesthetics

SERVER ISSUES
#1 Low Player Retention
One of my main issues is that people are not hooked with the gameplay, is there
anything to make people more hooked/engaged with gameplay?

#2 Easily burnt out
The few that do stay and don't leave in under a day get burnt out extremely quickly
and don't come back. Is there a way to make gameplay seem less grindy and more
rewarding?

#3 Toxicity
Definitely for HuabaCraft there are a bunch of toxic gameplay that goes on that has
caused many of our server members to leave. Is there a way to make gameplay less
toxic and enforce it? Camping, Backstabbing, etc

OVERALL GAMEPLAY
Currently the gameplay on Mystical Realm (Our Currently opened realm) is very similar to Vanilla Gameplay with the exception that the end is completely blocked off from players entering. In addition to the vanilla gameplay we offer a wide variety of balanced custom enchantments to the gameplay.
Our progression system currently is measured in a rankup system (/rankup) and every level you rankup you will get a singular star to show for it. Currently we have 90 of these open and ready for players to get pretty decent rewards & donator perks. There's a bunch of other features such as a boss world for more endgame company
For my question, what would make the gameplay even better & even more enjoyable.


Overall what would you guys change about my server, it can range from how it is run and advertised to overhauling the entirety of gameplay. I wanted some opinions from outside of the Huaba community. You can join with the ip play.huabacraft.com (Bedrock & Java)

I know this might not be super useful and that your server is at a way higher scale then mine was but I thought I would post this regardless. The way that you increase those numbers is through building a community. You can do this through events, having staff be trained to be friendly and one of their key roles being to be there for new members to convert them, or whatever. If you do that, your going to have more people feel a personal connection and stick with the server. You also get the benefit of players being more likely to invest into ranks and stuff once there is a community, especially when your a part of that community. As far as marketing, I don't really know any specific ways you can do this anymore but it goes back to personal connection. If there is a marketing that offers mouth to mouth I would take advantage of that. Anyway, thats just my two cents for when I ran a server 4 years ago and I hope it helps.

Thank you so much, nope my server is extremely small and we're just trying to grow. Definitely going to try to train our staff to be less toxic and make players have a personal connection.

Vanilla Minecraft is quite stale in my opinion, if I were to play a Survival server, I'd lean towards a more modified experience like Kalinox's server, a lot of people nowadays want complete customization like Hypixel's Skyblock offers.

* EDIT | A survival server that'd keep me coming back would need custom items, quests, and other various features to keep me interested in logging in day after day.

Vanilla Minecraft is quite stale in my opinion, if I were to play a Survival server, I'd lean towards a more modified experience like Kalinox's server, a lot of people nowadays want complete customization like Hypixel's Skyblock offers.

I definitely have the budget & potentially the team to do something like that but it really isn't interesting
to myself. I'm looking for a 20-30 consistent, that's all.

Running an online-mode server is difficult especially if you are just starting and have little to no friends to playtest with. I've also been in your situation back in 2-3 years ago and the difference was only the gamemode. I noticed that running an cracked/mixed server gives you a significant advantage when starting since most of the cracked servers don't have giant networks like Hypixel and they are constantly switching servers until they find a better server to grind. I was able to get 20-30 players at the same time, peaked 60+ players, low budget, within a span of only 2-3 months.

Very interesting. I might play around with the cracked versions of Minecraft. Great suggestion :) I don't think my players would mind at all having more people around.

Keep in mind in some cases running cracked versions of minecraft will cause to have more hackers and toxicity. That was in my case.
A very good point! I didn't think about this at all. Thanks :) I'll be sure to hire even more staff members and put some anti-toxicity rules in place & enforce the current ones even more.

It's a good server but i would like to see quests. It's so grindy right now and the rankup just costs too much. Offer more things to do.

Definitely with our new realm Xeno it'll be a lot of grind a lot of fun with more than just the pure aspect of gameplay where players can get Diamond/Netherite off the bat in under a day.
I'm definitely going to plan on reworking Mystical and redoing a lot of the work & balancing around it to make it more fun.
Such as quests & storylines and hopefully dungeons

At the moment my server is capped at 120/120 almost 24/7 and one of the biggest things that seems to keep users invested is discord engagement. That sounds extremely interesting, how do in fact keep your users engaged? I think that would solve a lot of my issues for my server.

My players don't really make their own story and just try-hard. Is there any incentive to make them roleplay?
Like a tournament/competition?

I have not joined to the server yet, just saw the "Server Issues" section and i think i'm able to give you some advices as a Developer from other Networks

For #1 and #2 Points you could fix this issues making some warp called "Tutorial", it can maybe looks weird for you, but in my experience players are totally atracted in things that can be "easy" for them, this warp tutorial would be better if is made and well explained using some board/picture plugin for minecraft. This could reduce the issue in these two points, not saying that can fix it at all but definitely will help you at the momment of make a better gameplay experience for your players.

For the third point is basically a staff administration problem, you could try staff managing ways like making formats for staffs for warns, kick, mute and ban. for every specific thing that is totally depending of what your players are doing for be considered as "Toxics".

Hope this can help a bit.

Bedrock support ;)
The server I manage went from 30 players smp to 300 players Towny and SMP now after adding bedrock support + doing tiktoks.

The server is really well made it's just getting it out there imo


EDIT:
It already has bedrock, I suggest advertising that on tiktok because it's huge on there

Getting yourself out there and advertising your server is super hard! I agree with James- TikTok is HUGE when it comes to advertising your Minecraft servers: you can actually get a huge player base off just getting your video on minecrafttok’s FYP!

Another thing is making sure you form a community. Usually people don’t stay on a server if theyre being ignored/haven’t made any connections.

Exactly. I don't think it's the content at all! I've received a lot of feedback and the playerbase has never cared about the bugs, they still played through it. Buggy or not.
I'll be focusing on the community and trying to get the best community for my server possible.
