Hello! How do I set up a server, like with all the files? I've used an already-setup server in the past with Shockbyte, but I'm just wondering how to do it on my own!

Any advice?
:)

JayMC In my opinion and in past experience. It does really depend what type of server you are trying to create. Different kinds of servers/gamemodes require different things.

What about factions, for example?
Here is a complete guide. Not just factions just a server in general.
Find a server host
Setup your server (Purchase a premade server or create your own)

Here are some important things most of them will come later and aren't a priority.
- Builds
- Plugins
- Configurations
- Art
- Forums (XenForo is really good)
- Discord (A discord is really nice to have but isn't required)

Advertising and creating a player base is very important, Using websites and having youtubers record will grow your player base alot.

Other
You could also buy a VPS and hire some staff members, You can easily hire some using the staff and recruitment section. And if you want you should check out the resources section there is alot stuff there.

So, as for factions. I would suggest that you come up with or even setup a budget for yourself. Of course there are many different things to take into consideration. Such as, staff members, Graphics (Server Logo, Server Icon, Voting site banner etc..)

If there are any custom features you would like to add to your factions server. You may want to consult with a java/plugin developer. From there, they could potentially give you some insight on how much it would cost on a per/plugin basis and the other option would of course be paying them equity to help you.

You would also want a server forum website, as well as; a buycraft or minecraftmarket store (people can purchase ranks and other virtual goods from the store to receive in-game.

As for Hosting you'd probably want something with a higher amount of RAM and a host that has higher CPU tolerance. As for RAM, it really depends how many players you'd be looking for on release. If it is a higher amount of players then; you would want something ranging from 16+ GB on that specific factions server.

There's also advertising to take into account. Each youtuber has a different payment requirement. The bigger the youtuber's channel, the more it would potentially cost.

Just as note most factions servers these days, offer weekly prizes of some sort.[DOUBLEPOST=1527138832][/DOUBLEPOST]JayMC a VPS, is a Virtual Private Server
