I would be grateful if someone were to explain how those big mini game networks have their servers. How do they have so many, do they have a dedicated plan, etc?

I believe Mineplex and Hypixel use McProHosting. I was wondering how they get their huge place to split up into many different servers.

I just want to know for future reference. Thanks.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Hypixel & Mineplex have hundreds of dedicated servers and link them through a service called Bungeecord, then they use a system (similar to RedisBungee) to sync player counts.

Thanks bro, really appreciate it.

I know they use bungee and shit, but does SSH help them to split up those big plans? I doubt they manually go to the mcprohosting site and select all the servers they want to buy. (Ex. 3 for walls, 7 for survival games). That will take up too much time and money.

They have multiple servers running using the Bungeecord protocol. They usually use a dedicated server or a couple to run the whole network of servers.

That's what i said.... It's not a "protocol" btw. LOL[DOUBLEPOST=1498312995][/DOUBLEPOST]

They don't use it. They are getting paid $$$ from mcprohosting to advertise them.

A friend of mine is an admin on hypixel, so i know more than all of you about how it properly works lmfao
There is absolutely no need to be so rude? Like honestly...
Anyway they don't actually use MCProHosting it's more of a way of advertising etc, let's face it MCProHosting is just a moneywhore of a company, and you're able to get better service literally anywhere else.
As for what larger servers do they purchase dedicated servers in order to run their servers, larger servers obviously have more so I'm not sure on how many Hypixel has (Probably, a lot.)
Once they have the dedicated servers they separate them all off into the little servers, they'll likely have a dedicated server per minigame or two, depending on the sizes and quality of the dedis.

How it works is they have lots of dedicated servers that have a small service running on them to link them all to a control panel.

Through the control panel they can provision minecraft servers based upon several templates based upon what server its going to run (be it skywars or something).

Then these individual minecraft servers have a plugin that will report back its status to a bungeecord instance on a server (they have a few of these) and then the bungeecord knows that there is a server live and players can then connect to the minecraft server through the bungeecord proxy.

They dont use MCPH anymore as suggested by a few others. They have loads of dedicated servers 200+

Bungeecord isnt a protocol. Its just a proxy server which handles all the server switching without the player having to do or see anything.

Yeah why wouldnt they?

Its fully custom made by them so its not one you can purchase or anything but yeah they do. They're not going to want to connect to each server individually to set the servers up are they!
Lmao yeah, I suppose it's not bad to ssh into one or two dedis, but I suppose with their size it'd be quite an annoyance.

When I had a small network we built our own panel. We only ran off 2 dedis then. Its just convinient plus you can get them to monitor the status of the servers and keep them alive and make more if there arent enough servers.

I know a fair bit about Hypixel's setup because I have discussed it with their techies :)

Also they use CentOS yay

I doubt they use a control panel, they most likely distribute the servers and its all linked via MYSQL, Redis and other databases, they dont really need to monitor Skywars-1275 do they? if they did all they have to do is SSH into the dedicated that runs that server, not difficult if they have a map of them all

I know what you bitches are thinking: why tf does he want to make a mini games server when he doesn't even know how it works?

Calm down Dad, stop touching me.

They don’t select servers 1 by 1 you are able to order multiple at a time and or make 1 server and tell your host to copy it so now you have 2 of those servers and they make thousands so it’s not a problem for them

They do I know one of there devs. Each individual minecraft server instance has its own record in a database your right. The control panel also hooks into that.

They dont use the control panel to manage individual servers they use them for bulk operations and to get an overview of whats happening.

They dont have a map of where servers are as they are dynamically generated as and when they are needed on whichever host is more suitable (based on resources used, player counts ect)

They dont tend to ssh onto the production servers unless theyre checking on the host machine. Anything and everything is managed and controlled by a central server hosting the panel.

They use a custom control panel. On singlehop dedicated servers. They don't use a mc host like mcprohosting or ggservers.
