Made a bit of sence not just enough though, so does someone actually 'use' my computer when it's 'mining'? Is there any risk in using it btw?Imagine having a calculator on your desk that anyone can use around the world.
Some people have a $1 calculator capable of adding and subtracting, some have division, and high end calculators you pay a lot for have graphing and all sorts of cool math features. The same can be said for your graphics card. It's capable of different things.
Now to make money, you 'rent' it out. You would allow someone with no calculator to just go rent someone who does have ones calculator. Then you get a share of the money if your calculator is rented out.
With mining aspect. You set your calculator (graphics card, or cpu) to just do mathematics by itself and automatically report it. This is finding a block and mining it. Or hashing. thing of it as the stone is a math problem and everyone working on the stone is getting a share of the gold (bitcoin, eth, zcash) that is found in the ground.
The absolutely only thing that could shorten the life of your graphics card or components is cooling. Use MSI After burner and limit the power consumption to 80% and put a fan near the side of the computer (open it) if you really want to be sure it will not harm the card at all.Made a bit of sence not just enough though, so does someone actually 'use' my computer when it's 'mining'? I use gtx 970 what would u suggest for thatThe absolutely only thing that could shorten the life of your graphics card or components is cooling. That's the only possible damage or harm to your parts.
As for if someone is using your computer. They are to a extent. The card is not being used by the renter, but rather being pointed.
The renter doesn't take your pickaxe and go mining for you. It just explains "Hey I need you to go do this math" then you go off and do some math and earn shares / get paid. Nobody has any control over your computer. Your computer just gets pointed to address or places.
Nobody has ever had any problems in the history of crypto mining with this. There has never been any leaks, viruses, nor any other threat. It is 100% safe.
Like I said though, just use MSI after burner and watch the temp, 70c is normal for the GTX 1080 under full load so I'll normally watch it. Using a fan I can keep it at 59c under full load at 80% power, 90 core clock, and 650 memory clock.
You don't know how the market works do you.Well, good job, now I can't get the PC I always wanted, because you guys mining and making money, the GPU prices are fucking me and now I have to wait, good job man!
I would say 80% power and you can leave the clock and mem as you wish. If you want to then you can go to about 90 and 450 on clock and memory. I set mine to 75 at night on power.I use gtx 970 what would u suggest for that
oh okayYou don't know how the market works do you.
Prices rise, then they crash. You are going to get the graphics card dirt cheap from someone who wants to liquidate and get out of the mining and since there is an abundance of people doing the same the prices are going to get really fucking low here in the next month.
Get ready to buy a 1080 at 300-400 if you can find the right places.[DOUBLEPOST=1500213124][/DOUBLEPOST]

Keep the graphics card cool as always though.
Keep in mind that even though it will say you are only making 0.69 a day, it's the same amount of Bitcoin. Price is just crashing at the moment. But keep in mind that once it rises again, which it always does, you will have the bitcoin to sell at high.
I know how the market prices works and I know they will go down but smh when they will? The next year or some shit Im not waiting,You don't know how the market works do you.

You'll pay 8.64 USD each month extra on the power bill. IF YOU RUN IT EVERYDAY ALL DAY FOR A MONTH STRAIGHT.oh okay
but im wondering is it even worth it? wont it cost more in power bill than you earn?
Thanks ill consider getting started soon then !You'll pay 8.64 USD each month extra on the power bill. IF YOU RUN IT EVERYDAY ALL DAY FOR A MONTH STRAIGHT.
You'll make profit of 49.38 USD. With the CURRENT bitcoin price of 1800 or so.
It's worth it. Even if you just bought 8.64 of BTC each month, it's another $50 under what you could be missing out on.
Once the crash happens and it takes its course you will see it rise. And you WILL make profit.
Your computer is being used to "solve" a math problem. Plexiate gave a very good analogy, but I just want to add that your computer is basically just making guesses, doing a bit of work based on the guess, and then repeating until accepted.Jack
This is awesome but, what does it actually do with my computer when i'm not using it, like I don't understand how i'm 'renting' out specs? I've never used bitcoin before btw
Well, good job, now I can't get the PC I always wanted, because you guys mining and making money, the GPU prices are fucking me and now I have to wait, good job man!
Yeah, I guess it really all depends on where you live. Maybe run an extension cord from your neighbor's or a street lamp when nobody's lookingThose of you living in the UK, this really isn't worth it as the price per kWh is way too high as well as BTC being worth relatively little at this time.
Currently mining with a GTX 980, I would make around $0.95 a day and with my personal price per kWh being the equivalent of $0.20, I would simply lose money doing this however, this can change depending on the price of bitcoin in the coming months.
Nevertheless, this is a great tutorial for those looking to start mining, great job Jack.
You can use this webpage to figure out what people with similar hardware are currently profiting: https://www.nicehash.com/?p=calcyea I don't understand.. I give up ;p[DOUBLEPOST=1500227867][/DOUBLEPOST]wait so how much $$ do I earn a day with a 1060 graphics card.. like 3 dollar per day?[DOUBLEPOST=1500227937][/DOUBLEPOST]If anyone can help me with this shit, I would offer 20% of what I get each week.. until I stops.
how is their so many benchmarks, i got only 1
Click on the various CPUs and GPUs to view other benchmarks.is this suppose to help me?
https://www.nicehash.com/?p=calcHow do I determine how much I'd make mining? Using the benchmark feature?
