Hi, title says it all

I have owned about 10 servers in the past, none of them ever with one donation, none of them ever exceeding 10 players

So, is it possible to make a server that will generate popularity and profit with 25 dollars?

Hey there, Epoe.

I feel as though there are other former server owners stuck in the same position as yourself. Most of the time a $25 dollar budget won't be enough to push a server to success. Minus all 3rd party expenses, you have to pay for a server host. These hosts usually range around $5-$10 a month for 1gb of RAM. Lower RAM servers such as these can only support up to 20-25 players. Basing off your budget, you would only be able to run the server for 2-5 months. Most servers take upwards of 5-12 months to pick up an active player base. Now it's time to add all the 3rd party expenses including plugins (custom or premium) to help make your server stand out more, a website, a web server (unless you host all servers on a dedicated or VPS), logos, etc. All in all these things can run you anywhere between $50 and $1000 once all set and done. To re-cap, you probably won't be able to push a mutli-hundred player server with your lower budget. However, if you just want to have some fun with friends and play survival, creative, or common game modes such as factions then your budget should suffice.

P.S. Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions.

Hope this helps,
LocalApe.

this advice is extremely helpful, but pretty much I only have this money, and for so long I have been wishing for a small playerbase, even if it is 5 people, I just want some sort of community, is there not any sort of secret tactic used to get free or very cheap advertisement?[DOUBLEPOST=1537030536][/DOUBLEPOST]
You just need an idea that is unique and popular so players will stay and play. Hire developers to make your custom plugins and then just get a good staff team. That's what I do. Maybe someone else will give you a better way to do it. GL
thank you[DOUBLEPOST=1537030591][/DOUBLEPOST]

I mean, you could leave a long time to releasing, so you could by something, replenish your money, buy something, replenish your money etc.

That's kind of what I do if I'm struggling on budget, I'll leave 3 months till release, and pay for stuff slowly.

I see you, but it isn't really about that, I know my ways around my budget, I can get the basics for 25$, and later 13$ for more stuff,

But I have had 100+ dollar budgets before, and still no success, I want a cheap way to get success on my server with players, 25$ is my budget but I just want help to get the server a pb, thank you

Its about how much you know, and what you can do. I have had success with 0$ releases and 1000$ releases. Its all about contacts, how well the server is made.

I'll have to be honest, $25 won't get you anywhere. Things need to stand out for users to want to play, good logs, banners, advertisement, good server generally. Then you've got to minus hosting of that as said above. - I mean, if you have good contacts, as said above, like a developer friend or artist, it could work amazingly.

Yes it's possible, I got the right contacts and only spending 15$ for a vps I successfully got 100 players on a server with a donation of 60$ in an hour

I'm guessing you're using free to download maps, no logo, free to download plugins, watch tutorials on how to host a server and host it on the cheapest pack together with advertising it on a channel with 20 subs, am I right?

Heya mate. With $25 the only thing youd be able to do is buy a cheap host, around 2-3 gigs for around $3 a month, then setup the server your self OR buy a $5-10 premade server. Go onto every free minecraft server server list and post your server on every one. Plus try to get people to record on your server for a youtube rank, doesnt matter if they have 50 subs, the more videos on youtube the more exposure. You can buy a .com domain for 99c from GoDaddy if its your first time there, if you have already bought a domain you can get a .us domain for quite cheap. After you have bought all the main components to the server, you will only need to be paying $3-10 a month for the server hosting. Keep in mind there are MANY ways to gain server exposure without dropping a penny. Search new minecraft servers on google, go to all those websites and say your looking for staff and you will get a small community. Hope this helps.
This was actually really useful, you inspire me a lot. One of my main issues is I hate 1. losing money 2. not having instant success(yes I know that's bat)

I hate that part of my personality but usually, if I launch a server, and nothing comes from it, I get upset, extremely upset :(

Any tips for quick server growth[DOUBLEPOST=1537045328][/DOUBLEPOST]

No, funny enough I take shit seriously, I do plan on paying for a host, maps maybe,

I actually plan to learn how to properly make a nice server, which I might have to pay to learn

but please do not take this post as something meant to be funny, I am 100% serious, and I really want to be able to grow a somewhat successful server on a low budget, my reasons are:

1. Showing everyone it would be possible
2. Enjoying a small community :D

Alright well good luck with that... server managing is not a cheap business, just saying, you gotta invest in order to profit, but most of the times it's not the case sadly

my objective would be this if I started the server (still looking for more advice)
1, make a bit of profit
2. build a small community
