How to use $400 efficiently for a minecraft server

Hello, my dad is encouraging me to use my money (rip savings) and invest it online (quite a shocker honestly) and I'm thinking of opening a minecraft server, here's a couple of questions I hope you can help me with

How far can I go with this amount?
How should I use it? (ex $50 hosting, etc)
Should I even use all of it?

Right now I'm thinking of opening a factions or prison server and hire a mid sized Youtuber (or two if the money allows) to get players (20ish playerbase if that's possible) and hopefully that will make the $ roll in. If this wouldn't be enough money how much do you suggest I save up before making a server? If this isn't a good investment what do you think would be?

$400 is a lot for me and I'm just looking for ways to possibly make it grow so I'll have more savings and I can use it on a big purchase if I need/want to make one

As the user above said, i'd advise you to invest on something else, I don't feel as though minecraft is a great source of income anymore due to the large competition that the market holds.

Your dad would have to setup a brokage account and cosign it for you. I invested $5000 back in december when bitcoin was at about $900 each then sold all of them when they were at $1200 2-3 months later. You just have to do research and be risky and then wait for prices to go up

Would it still bring in some income though? It might still be worth it if I at least earn some money (I'll just invest a portion), because I'd personally enjoy running a server.

No, my friend made 5 servers, 3 of them made $1k in just 3 months, while the other 2 made somewhere $500-$700 with the same playerbase as the other 3 with 75-80 playerbase.

That happens with some servers and its mostly luck to get players who want to spend that much money. Most of the time you wont get that unless your developmebt is very good

No you just wont get as much profit unless you buy when its low then sell high. Look at other currencys. I use the exchange website www.poloniex.com to trade if thats not the rl look up poloniex. Its one of the largest crypto exchanges[DOUBLEPOST=1490881348][/DOUBLEPOST]

Right but you have to put in effort to build the server and develop it so people will pay for stuff in it

What kind of server did your friend run ? what year was this? and how much was his invesment?

- Hosts that are $1/gb, nolag.host or aquatis.host. You could buy a 4GB ram for like i think $5 in nolag.host and you'll be good to go to make a good factions server with exclusive builds.

Builds (Exclusive) - $55-$70
Host(s) - $10 if you're gonna do a bungeecord server
Logo(s) - Server logo (Drawn) $20

He started off making a OP-Prison server (Cracked) With guns & 2 Prestige Ranks, basically he ran it for 2 months-ish without doing any buycraft shiz. After that, he added buycraft and went blowing. And then he added bungeecord, (KitPvP, SkyBlock & Skywars.)

And after that, his server got hacked basically him getting off a lot of money in his paypal and made a new server with cleaner design and more professional staffs got him 2x his donation stats.

was his new server cracked as well?

Yes. All of it. We did that to boost the playerbase. But we also installed Litebans & A Anticheat to prevent Hackers.

Also you would need a lot of exploit patches in your server(s) to prevent it from getting hacked by cracked players.

Hmm do you have an idea on how much a full config for a cracked factions server will cost?

Depending on how many features on what you'd like. If you want a custom enchants one with exclusive builds, i could give you a $30+

and $20+ for logo, and the rest for advertising.
