I was able to find the OG owner for my old main by looking up his original Minecraft username. I ended up finding his YouTube channel which put me into contact with the user.

You could always try googling ""IGN (name)"" or ""Username (name)"" to see if they've got any results that mention their IGN. You see this pretty often in staff/server/Youtuber applications, and sometimes they're on social media (but rare)
