ame goes for people -repping over the tiniest things causing people to be afraid to use the rep system in case of revenge rep.

I will admit that there are multiple people who deserve a neg rep form me, but I can't out of the fear of revenge rep.

I pretty much agree with your entire post Doge, and I think that at this point the staff team should really go to every 50+ rep user and review their rep. You know how youtube stops the view count of a video at 301 views to check if the views are legit, same concept. Every person who hits 50+ rep should be reviewed. I'd even say everyone with 30+ rep should be reviewed.

This is another symptom of this community's obsession with Quantity>Quality. If any form of reputation system has any form of counting function or number, they'll want to have as many as possible, even if 90% of them are worthless.
This also happens with posts, trophy points etc.
Now, I know I'm the second highest when it comes to post count and trophy points, but this is not because I postfarm like crazy, I simply use the forums a LOT, and have used the forums a lot like that since I joined 2 years ago. that adds up.

The system suggested by Doge at least allows some control over the quality of reputation, though I suggest that maybe we should start reporting non-constructive positive rep as well as negative rep (this is the rule that combats people neg-repping each other for stupid things, it is worded so that it can and should be used for positive and even neutral rep as well).

Ideally, we should have a system that doesn't really count numbers that much.
