Hi, I would like to learn java to make plugins. I have a little bit of experience in python, but when I want to learn a programming language I most of the time give up after some hours. Does anyone know a place to start? Thank you in advance :)

I don't like reading books
I don't either, that's why I could never finish the book but still It has helped me the most. It teaches you all the important basics of java plus it's not 700 pages of just words, there's jokes(yes programming jokes), pictures, exercises. It teaches u each topic one by one in a procedural manner, I highly recommend this book. I actually tried other stuff like Codecademy, I got a 7 day free trial on Christmas and I finished the java course and I'd say it doesn't really cover the basics. As one guy on the internet said "Learning syntax isn't learning java" and especially the java tutorial on codecademy isn't great. Same with youtube tutorials, they usually just confused me further and when I went back to the book and learned some new aspects of java a lot of the stuff were clearer to me. If you don't have someone who's experienced to teach you java step by step. I'd say read this book.

I completed the Codecademy course in 1-2 days and now I'm checking out the hyperskill projects. I'll look at the book since you convinced to read it :)
