It was over a year ago by now I think, we hosted one of our advertisements on imgur by accident so they blocked us.

Basically. I do not see any good in keeping something from being sold to someone who would do good.

All these people on MCM using imgur must put quite a bit of load on the imgur servers, could be one of the reasons they are somewhat reluctant to unblock us.

There are several image sites out there, it was suggested that before posting, it would warn users about imgur not working. However it was moved to the pending suggestions section, and nothing more was heard of it.

This is a known problem with no fix unfortunately. http://vgy.me seems to be a pretty popular alternative as Simplism said, so I'd just go with that for now.
