I'm referring to the reason he gave. The impersonator apparently said something like "I need to remove a thread, give me access to your mcm account." I still can't believe someone fell for that, the perms are on my account, not like having access to his would do anything.

That too but it's never been necessary. For compromised accounts once the owner confirms ownership, I just change email back and reset pw.

So, I was selling BTC for PayPal. Someone named Cynthia#8649 added me, saying she would buy it all. She acted as if she was Kelsey. So of course, I messaged Cynthia to confirm, just in case. Cynthia messaged, saying 'confirmed'. I was like, alright, cool. But then, I checked Cynthia's Discord (Information Tab), and it's actually SaphireLuna#9040.

I contacted Cynthia immediately via her real Discord. Someone named Religion#5840 was impersonating me, telling Cynthia he would buy a Minecon 2012 cape.

Two impersonators, right? What was their goal?

Cynthia impersonator made me comment, to prove she was real. Religion impersonator took this advantage, to prove he was real. Then, real Cynthia confirmed for the Minecon 2012 cape, and Cynthia impersonator said she confirmed.

They are evolving..

To solve this, what I usually do is just talk about the deal or whatever on discord, and then proceed with the actual deal on MCM, and confirm things in the convo e.g. "So you're purchasing $20 worth of BTC from me for $23 PayPal?" just to make sure there's no miscommunication due to impersonators, and also remember to confirm the email address

Just use MCM pm system, I try to use that anytime I can with users I've never dealt with, If its a friend I know then of course I'll just discord or skype.

One thing that I find funny, is that impersonators almost always have bad grammar. I can't even explain it. Also, dealing completely onsite would be a way to deal safely. Or you should verify discords before doing the deal. I know multiple people who have been scammed because they didn't verify the discord/skype. Confirming through pms would be another easy way to avoid being scammed.
