Since I haven't played Minecraft in a while I am just wondering, is Minecraft 1.8 still alive?

Not Really 1.8 becoming boring And Also Mojang has stopped suppporting all 1.8 server
1.15.2 would be better

hypixel will stay 1.8 for the forseeable future so there will always be a huge player base on 1.8

1.8.9 is the last actual good version of MC. Unless they actually revert the PvP back to 1.8 mechanics in the new 1.16 update and get rid of the new ugly textures, then 1.16 will be the new best. Until then, 1.8.9 is superior

Yes it is! If you're making a pvp based server like kitpvp, hcf, factions, practice etc 1.7 and 1.8 would be the go to, for SMP servers i'd say newer versions and skyblock 1.12.2 i'd say. In no way is it dead
