We are back, back again.
Who are we?
Island Clash posted a hiring thread back in April with similar details, of which we got a plethora of great applicants from. However, since then our team has dropped back down in number due to University hoovering people up for the year. As such, we're here again; a completely custom server gamemode that is inspired by Clash of Clans, and Age of Empires. We've worked closely with a bunch of YouTubers since we've launched, most prominently PrestonPlayz and MrWoofless, but more recently Logdotzip, and a lineup of other channels that will be promoting us in the near future. Our player peak was at it's highest early this year, with peaks of over 1,500 players each night. Since then we've declined a bit; it took a while to get our feet back under us after our deal with Preston and Woofless ended, but now we're rapidly on the rise again, having recently hit 500 players a night, and with a number of large YouTubers all waiting to record. First, though, we need the content, and that's why we're here!
We've been working hard over the last year to continually add new features, but are finding it restricting progress wise to have just myself and two full-time engineers.
What's in it for you?
We're looking to expand our great, close-knit team into a slightly bigger great close-nit team. Island Clash is by no means a small, nor simple, project, and this creates a very rewarding enviroment to be in. We are naught but a bunch of guys looking to create a fantastic product, and expand the company into new avenues, all the while having a lot of fun. Having said that, fun does not pay the bills, and this is why we will be looking to pay, as a starting salary, at least between $12-14USD/hour. This is dependent on your experience and worth (ie a CS degree would make the number higher), but as the product grows, and as your contributions to the company grows, so does that number.
As we can expect a bunch of people going '$12/hour is nothing', I'll stress again; the $12USD/hour is a minimum, and dependant on a candidates experience and/or Computer Science degree, the number will be increased.
Do you have the experience?
Things that are needed:
- At least 2 years in Java
- At least 1 year in relational database systems (MySQL or similar)
- At least 1 year in other data structures (Memcache, Redis, or similar)
- At least 16 years old, and able to sign contracts (or have them co-signed)
- Able to work 80 hours minimum a month
- Ability to take constructive criticism
- Ability to cooperate within a team
- Good time management
- Ability to think outside the box
- Write agile code that can be changed based off of project outlook
- Ability to estimate the general complexity of code; we want our product to be efficient
Things that will help, but are not required:
- Ability to construct modular code
- Ability to write scripts
- Able to work 100 hours a month
- Having worked on other successful servers
- Have taken/are taking Computer Science courses at a University
I'm interested! Now what?If you think you are the person for the job, and would fit well into our team, then we'd love to hear from you! Please contact [email protected], including a full portfolio, why you're interested, and why you think you are the person for the job. We are only looking to fill 1 position here at the current time, but will keep in contact with any promising candidates who are good for future endeavors.
Thanks,
Jed
