Hey, I'm iCause and since January, I've been playing Minecraft, Rocket League and doing other things Kappa on my PC that I built :p

I've been having some issues for the last month or so, and I am normally good tech-wise, but this, I just can't diagnose a problem.

I've been having some lag recently, still getting 60+fps and a decent ping but for some reason, I still get some lag :

  • It's not an internet issue.
  • It's not a "you have a rubbish pc get a new one m8" issue.
  • It's not a FPS issue
  • It's not a "turn down your settings m9" issue.

Why isn't it an internet issue : I had a technician come to my house and fix my bad internet, I don't lag on other things, on my laptop it gets same ping and doesn't lag on the same connection, worse PC specs.

Why isn't it a bad PC issue : I have a decent PC and have been playing on higher settings with 10+ tabs open in chrome and still didn't lag, it just suddenly changed.

Why isn't it a FPS issue : I still get 60+ fps.

Why isn't it a turn down your settings issue : As I said I played on higher settings literally a month and a bit ago and it was still smooth.

I have tried that TCP thing, VPNs, re-installing java and other things.

Any response giving advice or trying to help me is very appreciated.

I only have one game but I'll re-install Rocket League and check.
Because if it is all games, then either your RAM is going bad or your cpu and gpu are bottle necked

Update : Still lags :(
When Minecraft is open go to your task manager, go to details, find java.exe. Once you have found it, right click, set priority and set to high.
This has worked for me in the past so why not give it a try :)

Oh yeah, my GPU is bottlenecked due to my processor.

Yes you are running a old processor which only has 2 cores. But that should not be the problem to your lag/stuttering.

1. Try to close all background applications to see if it makes a difference.

2. Go into task manager, click details, right click minecraft/java (while its open) and set priority to Above Normal or High. Also while there, right click minecraft/java again, and click set affinity, make sure all your cores are ticked.

If it still persists just post below and I will try and find a solution!

Do you have any problems with webpages. On my PC webpages go really slowly, When I start up my computer webpages load fine but after about 10 mins they really slow down. I have reset my PC on multiple occasions. Inside video games I have no lag or anything its just web pages.

My laptop/macbook's Internet is fine with no problems at all.

You are incorrect, if he has a modern gpu and is running an old, weak dual core cpu, it will easily cause bottlenecking

Yes.

A lot.

Like I could hardly move.

And offline rocket league is fine.

Didn't work, thanks anyways :)

I know it could cause a problem, but I assumed he could buy a new one as he stated above he had a 150$ budget.

If all fails just buy a new one, also increase your budget, your graphics card is a bit higher than a 150$ processor. You will need at least 4 cores recommended for a lot of games. Games now are starting to require 4 cores, and some will not even start on a 2 core processor, one game as an example is far cry primal.

Yeah, I understand. What CPU do you recommend?

Minecraft doesn't really care about your GPU. It's your CPU that matters, and that's not a good CPU. It may not be the solution to your problem, but just throwing that out there.

I also have no idea whether this is a connection issue or a frame rate issue.

If it's a connection issue, try changing your DNS servers. Google's DNS servers are what I use for now until I find something better for my connection. I was having bad connection problems on servers until I changed them.

How can I change my DNS Servers?
