Unless you run a Large server a Dedicated server is not needed. You will be fine with a VPS or shared mc hosting. Its not a big deal. Think smart save money for plugins and other resources that you will need.

I've heard they are being overloaded with clients... To many DDOS Attucks etc. might not be the truth just a small rumor.
