Lower the amount of points given for backing out, 50 is really excessive, yes they wasted time but 10 gives a suspension and 50 gets them banned, maybe the person has a legitimate reason for backing out?

It's not supposed to be a permanent ban. Usually once that warning is issued, it's an account suspension for 1 month.

The warnings and points that cause specific punishments are already being re-considered and adjusted accordingly. An official announcement on the changes will be out once it's finalized.

Yeah this whole situation is pretty tucked up to be honest. I've been in a situation where my PayPal was hacked during the middle of a deal. The owner of the account I was buying was kind enough to understand my situation. If this had not been the case, I would have been banned for one month. A whole month! All for something that could be 100% out of your control.

I think we're going to make it 10 points, which is a significant drop from the 50 before.

We definitely don't want to let people off for bidding to boost the current offer, but I think that 10 is more than reasonable.

Please give me some input on this, as the update will be coming in less than 24 hours.

That's far better, especially for people who have won bids by default. e.g. (Say I was outbid, so bided on something else. Then the highest bidder was banned, therefor mine is then the winning bid again, but I have already spent the money) etc.

10's likely enough to discourage people from doing it though.

Why give even 10 points? Why not make it like 3-5 points? As, people can make a bit, say it is up to 100$, and the bid before was 90$, the Seller can simply say Bid lowered down to 90$ again.

I understand however that on ebay. if you bid and do not pay, there are charges etc. But, on here, there is nothing for ANYONE to lose except for some time out of their day. Which, lets be honest, the amount of time I see some people on this site (This includes myself), people should not have an issue with wasting a few minutes.. But, I agree that 10 would be a LOT better than the 50 from before.

I agree this should be changed. I personally have never backed out of a bid, and typically do not bid unless I am 110% certain I can pay it, however good idea.
