If you do anything along the lines of design MacBook is 100% the way to go. If you do anything development wise I'd say Microsoft is the way to go. It all depends on the purposes you want the computer for. I'm a designer so I have the MacBook Pro, it works great and I've made it to act like a desktop computer, two external monitors, speakers, 4 tb external hard drive etc. If you want a versatile pc I'd say Macbook all day.

IF your budget is not the highest, why the touchbar?
Good point. If I am buying something, I want to make sure I buy the right thing. I'd rather save up a bit more, and have a better device, as I've heard that this version's performance is better too. Not completely sure whether or not these are rumours though. If anyone knows more, please let me know![DOUBLEPOST=1549003265][/DOUBLEPOST]
buy a surface book 2 instead, thank me later[DOUBLEPOST=1548977103][/DOUBLEPOST]
knowing it can only have 4gb of ram, no it doesn't hold up.
Could you explain why I should go for Surface book 2 instead?

I bought a MacBook Pro a few months ago and it’s been amazing, I’ve run into 0 issues with it and it does everything I need it too perfectly, even some light-medium gaming.

My specs if your wondering: I9, 32gb, 560x, but I wouldn’t doubt that that the lower tier one is just as good.

Overall it’s a great laptop and has all the software I wanted on it, it’s also super light and easy to bring places, so if your willing to swollow the price I’d go for it.

I don't like macs but my friend bought the highest tier 2018 version for some reason. He says he likes it and it's pretty much future proof for awhile. I'd say if you get it, you might wanna spend all in so you can ensure it'll last for a long time.

I have a Lenovo 720s 4k touch i7 16gb ram 1tb ssd. Doesn't have the 8th gen processor but it packs a 1050Ti. I love it. It's light for what it has and it's pretty fast and cheaper.

Another option you could consider is the Dell XPS 15. In my opinion, it's the better mac. It can have the specs the mac has and includes a dedicated graphics card.

If you're not a Windows fan, just stay with the mac. You might wanna pay for the one with an i7. According to my friend, it'll last him 5-8 years before he'll think about buying a new one. There might be a student deal for the mac so check that out as well.

Honestly my old 4k Touchscreen Dell XPS 15 was revolutionary. It was my pride and joy for a lil over a year before the RAM slots went kaput. I assume that was due to a full year of lugging it around in my backpack, despite the cushiony case. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

yeah, but a windows laptop of the same price could probably still play AAA games at low settings, while a macbook air can't (source: I have one as well)
The thing I like about them is that they last, mine is a couple years old and still runs amazing. From my experience with Windows, they don't hold up over time. Not sure if that's changed but it's something that's always deterred me.
