So I was thinking about this...
I personally don't really see a reason for a member to hide his profile.

What do you guys think about making all profiles public and removing the option to private it.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Another reason that private profiles aren't the best is name changes. If someone changes their name, profile picture, and makes their profile private, they could easily confuse people. I have no problem with people seeing what I rate, but if others do then I can see where they're coming from. The whole "personal information" thing that Ac3dUd3 was trying to pull wasn't working though.
Yeah I agree with you on the personal information thing because that's not really an issue here. I would not like people to see what I rate/when I rate, but I also agree with the name change thing. If it's possible, having a 'recent name changes' tab would be nice and even better than just going through someone's profile. I get confused a lot when people change their name often so it'd be cool to see a log of every name change when it happens. If this isn't possible then I don't really know what a solution would be. All I know is I don't want my profile public.

I don't get it though. What part of it don't you want public? Your recent posts are searchable, you can disable people posting on your profile, what else would you possibly want hidden?

They don't want it public because they know that a lot of people agree that they are toxic members.
That is still unrelated. How would it make any difference?

I stated my reasons above. I don't want people seeing what/when I rate, I don't want someone commenting on my profile, and I don't want someone rummaging through my old profile posts. Those may seem like minor reasons to some, but to me it's important because I used to get flooded with stupid profile posts and now that I have people making videos about me I don't want links to it being spammed on there either. It's too much of a bother dealing with that.

If recent posts are searchable I see no reason to remove an option that's been here since the start of MCM. I don't understand what it solves.

Although my profile is public, I don't agree with this suggestion. It should be up to the user to decide whether or not they choose the route of privacy. What would be the point of removing this feature? So people can post random comments on your profile?

Oh no, not the precious ratings!

You can already control this in your settings.

They can do this just fine using the websites search feature.
I'm pretty sure you can't use the search feature to see the old posts on my profile, but I did not know about the comment settings. The reason I don't want people seeing my ratings is because it's an easy way for people to see whether I'm online or not, since I give ratings frequently. It defeats the purpose of hiding my 'last activity' time. It's your decision ultimately, but I just don't understand your reasoning for wanting to do this other than just for the hell of it. What exactly is it solving when we can already use the search feature to go through somebody's posts?

How is this even related to privacy? It has nothing. Look at my post above.

Sure I could go remove each and every comment on my profile and give a reason. However, having a private profile page prevents can prevent any comments at all. It's not like this feature is truly hurting anybody.

Yes, but I doubt there's a button that will get rid of 6 pages of posts on my profile, which is what I'd like to keep hidden.

Ah, well isn't that just a compromise to this? If nobody can comment is there really a purpose in viewing the profile?

Yes. To see past usernames.
So we simply remove privacy so people can see past usernames? What's the point in that? Are we becoming NameMc? Are we going to start sniping names?
