making a new minecraft server with a low budget in 2019? Help please

So hi there,

I haven't played minecraft in a while, recently came back to check it out and i remembered a dream i always had, literally a dream.

Since the first day i bought minecraft, which was about 7-8 years ago now, i have been dying, to make a minecraft server THAT ACTUALLY GETS A SMALL COMMUNITY

So here is the thing, before there was a moment where i wanted to do it for money.

But since hosting is hella cheap now well technically i don't even need money.

I just want to make a minecraft server and build a community

Now there is a big problem, to do so, you need youtubers, high quality graphics, nice features.
And well sadly, my budget is 5$, yes, you heard me, 5$.

Now before you start saying, you have no hope for 5$.
Please understand i just want tips.

IMPORTANT:
so this is the thing, i have lost most skills at being able to make a server from scratch, however i still know mostly how to config , so i am looking to buy a really cheap setup, and then a 2gb or 1gb ram server. Leaving no money for advertising, so is it possible? One thing you should also know about me is I am a person who loses interest quickly, so for example, if the server does well, i will be very interested and will even put more personal money into it, however , if it does bad, i lose interest extremely fast. So any tips? All help would be much appreciated!

Advertising will be hard but you could do it

You can buy a host for less than $5/month with 5GB. A lot of budget hostings do $1/GB or even less.

Doubt you could get any good art/plugins, but yes, growing a small small server is possible with $5, but don't expect anything amazing.

You can do it but it requires time and effort and patients. You have to research for the best cheap hosting, have to become well known on other communities then when you're server is releasing tell those friends you made to come to check it out, they might like it, and lastly if you have money left over try buying a premade setup off MCM or if not money left over attempt making one and learning to configure it all. It'll take time and hard work but it pays off. I did this back in 2015 with one of my servers, did pretty good as a first server I made. I got a group of friends and developed it together, not so good of a pb but better than nothing.

Ideally just a normal vanilla server with a non exclusive spawn and a few mini features. I heard a lot of people have begun to enjoy vanilla Minecraft servers again and its a very cheap/easy solution.

actually dude, i was thinking of that, i really really was thinking of it, its a server i know how to operate backwards, no complicated plugins and stuff, just simple vanilla with a few perms to stop people from breaking other houses and that!

Oh I should add, you can actually start with survival servers, you can't go wrong with those, very easy to make, get a simple spawn and host, get a community going via discord, invite friends that you make overtime and it's easy to do. Do/add what the players want because that makes them stay. Listen to them and acknowledge what they want. Survival servers aren't so hard to make unless you want something advanced but for now basic is good too.

i understand, i want to make a server i would like, and considering i am getting back in vanilla survival, i wanted to make that, howveer i also truly enjoy pvp. One problem is the popularity thing, i struggle with that, and with patietcne, put it this way, i want to release the server asap, even though i dont even have the server on me atm.
I planned on making a discord, and then just realeasing it on pretty much every minecraft server website, and hope to build up a little pb there. What do you think (i think the whole get popularity on a forum thing is out of the question because it is diffiuclt for me and also i dont like nagging people to join) I know i am being picky when i say this but i seriously want a whole hearted community, not any toxic players and people who can be annoying, which is difficult ik but yeah[DOUBLEPOST=1557073549][/DOUBLEPOST]

exactly what i mentioned in my previous post responding to you, i want to build a whole hearted survival server, obviously being active on it and listening to the community , but what do you think of just adding the server to a lot of minecraft server lists, because getting popularity i feel would be quite difficulkt

I would say only thing you could do is a vanilla 1gb server

Use 2$ for (2GB Server)
And If the Host allowed free Monthly Dedicated IP like (25565) for a 1$ (Which is kinda rare sometimes) Always get it.

and use the other 2$ for domain or something else.

i am currently making a server trust me their are a lot of generous people out their you just have to look for them. I have a budget but 5 dollars is good enough i recommend flipping your money by offering loans easy way to build your source of income.

Agreed. But after few years of people playing hytale they are gonna go back to MC cuz of nostalgia etc

but making an MC server now is like throwing money and time away unless you have a massive budget and have a good advertiser.

In forums for mc market they have a loaning section you should be able to pull something off.
