Hey there.

At this moment in time, the reputation system is pretty shit. New users are not educated enough on how the system is supposed to work, and hell I'm pretty sure everybody in the community doesn't know how it is supposed to work.

As much as I like to vouch for the removal of the rep system or possibly some other solution, I feel like something needs to be addressed for as long as the rep system is in place.

Mandatory checks for users who hit 30+ rep

Maybe even lower that a bit more, 15+ rep.

Once a user hits that much rep, a staff member should manually go through and find all the reputation that is false, be it positive or negative rep.

There are way too many people who just beg for rep in this community after doing any small thing for anyone.
I won't name names anymore, but I was messaged by someone who was simply asking me for rep. When I pried further, they said they were doing it simply because they saw someone else do it, and thought it was fine. This is an extremely frustrating abuse of the system to boost up someone's false trustworthiness.

Anyone who hits 30+ rep NEEDS to have their rep reviewed. I'm very glad to say that I got mind reviewed, and got around 20 of my rep removed. I'm glad for it, I can now say I'm not one of the people who have fake rep. All of it has been reviewed, and I am as reputable as my rep says now. That's how it should be for every high rep user. THAT'S THE PURPOSE OF THE SYSTEM!

I wanna agree, but there NEEDS to be some other suggestions that gets accepted and implemented before your suggestion works.

First up, there needs to be cleared up what a rep actually is. It's hard for staff and the community to know what is a real rep and false rep at the moment, so we need to figure that out first: http://www.mc-market.org/threads/220525/
Second, there needs to be proof that the rep isn't just a lie. It's easy to just say "Did a loan vouch", so there needs to be some form of proof involved to actually help out the staff to figure out if the rep is real or not. Example: A extra field for picture ( Based on previous suggestions by Doge )

This might solve some of the false reputation people have, but not all of it. Not really worth it to develop a system that won't even solve the problem completely.
it's a bandaid for the current broken arm and cut.

If I could repost the remove the rep system suggestion, I would.

I like that you're trying to find a way to fix the reputation system, but going through all of the people's reputations is such a hassle. Even if it's just the players that have 30+ reputation.

Then we need more staff, or a better system. I'd even be ok with no rep system.

We need to have a reputation system because it's an easy way to show that certain players are known on this server. If we get rid of it how will we know if someone is reliable, profile vouches? Profile vouches can easily be as false as reputation. I suggest if someone is really interested in doing business with a certain player then they can view the player's reputation and determine if it's false or not. We don't need staff members assigned to removing false reputation only.

Never said that those staff members should be only assigned to reputation.

As long as we don't have staff going over reputation, the system will be a failure.

You literally sound like Trump with Obama Care. Removing it won't fix anything, it will just make a bigger problem at hand. MC-Market isn't gonna remove reputation because that's what it's known for. If you see false reputation you can report it and the player will lose that reputation, simple as that.

That's why this post isn't about removing the system.

It's about auditing those who have potentially rep farmed.

That's it. No negatives other than staff time. That's it.

But you're saying "I wouldn't mind just seeing the reputation system go in general". Removing the reputation system is not an option. If staff get more task like dealing with false reputation without reports then less time will be focused on fixing bugs and adding awesome updates.

I could see if you lost the chat history, or just can't find proof, valid reputation would be removed, so, I'm against this.

Then educate people about the system when they join the website.

This a marketplace site. At the end of the day, we are all trying to not get scammed. If you don't see fixing the reputation system as a priority over "awesome updates", well I just can't see your reasoning.
