Hey there.

At this moment in time, the reputation system is pretty shit. New users are not educated enough on how the system is supposed to work, and hell I'm pretty sure everybody in the community doesn't know how it is supposed to work.

As much as I like to vouch for the removal of the rep system or possibly some other solution, I feel like something needs to be addressed for as long as the rep system is in place.

Mandatory checks for users who hit 30+ rep

Maybe even lower that a bit more, 15+ rep.

Once a user hits that much rep, a staff member should manually go through and find all the reputation that is false, be it positive or negative rep.

There are way too many people who just beg for rep in this community after doing any small thing for anyone.
I won't name names anymore, but I was messaged by someone who was simply asking me for rep. When I pried further, they said they were doing it simply because they saw someone else do it, and thought it was fine. This is an extremely frustrating abuse of the system to boost up someone's false trustworthiness.

Anyone who hits 30+ rep NEEDS to have their rep reviewed. I'm very glad to say that I got mind reviewed, and got around 20 of my rep removed. I'm glad for it, I can now say I'm not one of the people who have fake rep. All of it has been reviewed, and I am as reputable as my rep says now. That's how it should be for every high rep user. THAT'S THE PURPOSE OF THE SYSTEM!

Then educate people about the system when they join the website.

This a marketplace site. At the end of the day, we are all trying to not get scammed. If you don't see fixing the reputation system as a priority over "awesome updates", well I just can't see your reasoning.
Like I said, if people want to avoid being scammed they can view the player's reputation. It's pretty obvious 90% of the time when a reputation is just because they're friends or if they actually did business.

The point of the reputation system is to easily be able to distinguish who is reputable.

Why are you trying to argue against something that is an obvious quality of life fix? It's extremely confusing.

You know how they have M6Gaming for the scam system, they should get someone who does that but for the Rep system and reviews them, can even be two players and they approve or deny the rep and if its denied maybe you can have an option to appeal it. And the rep isnt shown until its been reviewed, if need the staff can request for pictures to prove that there was a transaction

I'm arguing about this because you're making this way too complicated by adding more time on staff's hands for meaning less task that can be done by players who actually would like to avoid being scammed and take precautions.

Well you already acknowledged that the reputation system is "broken" by saying that a player should just go through someone's rep themselves to make sure it is legit.

We shouldn't have to go through every single person's rep. The purpose of the system is to easily read the reputation of the person. Your only reasonable argument is that it may take resources to review rep of 30+ rep people.

So I ask again, do you value "amazing updates" over a legit rep system?

I didn't say "we" should go through everyone's reputation. I said the people you're about to do business with, you can go through their reputation and determine yourself if it's legit reputation or not. 90% of the time it's pretty obvious.

Agreed, however if someone has 30+ surely a good majority of it is true. If this was implemented staff would make even more decisions to remove "valid" rep and it would just cause an uproar.

Report the reputation you think is false, this is not needed.

The entire reason I made this post is because that is not true, for like, anyone over 30 rep.

I don't think you understand. I was referring to myself and the community, not specifically you and me... lol...

Reputation should be a system that allows users to easily see who is reputable and who isn't If it isn't doing that, then it is failing. That's my final say in that conversation.

And my final say is if you truly want to avoid being scammed, don't be fucking lazy about it.

I believe that the best way to handle this is for users to be reporting any reputation they see that they believe is false, having manual checks that need to be done (for our already strained staff team) isn't ideal.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
