I’ve been trying to debug this issue for about 2 weeks and still can’t find the root cause.
Setup:
Problem:
Players randomly get disconnected. From what I see, something is spamming waypoint/locator packets and it eventually breaks the connection.
Important details:
At this point it feels like either:
Has anyone experienced something similar or has any idea where to look next?

- Velocity + Paper backends
- Pterodactyl panel
- Multiple VDS nodes
Problem:
Players randomly get disconnected. From what I see, something is spamming waypoint/locator packets and it eventually breaks the connection.
Important details:
- Happens only on backend servers hosted on a separate VDS (second node)
- Servers on the main node (with Velocity + 2 backends) work fine
- ~30–60 players online
- When gamerule locatorbar true → disconnects increase significantly
- Disabling locator bar reduces crashes, but does not fix them
- A plugin that enables locator bar on a scheduler increases the issue, but is NOT the root cause
- Disabled location/locator bar → no full fix
- Disabled plugins one by one → no result
- Changed core to same version as working servers → no result
- Disabled teleport plugins → no result
- Hoster migrated the VDS to another node → no change
- Made a hotfix plugin blocking waypoint packets → fewer crashes, but problem still exists
- Teleports (/warp, /home, /rtp) sometimes stop working
- Logs show a lot of rapid state changes (e.g. glide events) and high activity before issues
At this point it feels like either:
- packet flood / desync issue
- Velocity ↔ backend communication issue
- or something related to locator bar mechanics in newer versions
Has anyone experienced something similar or has any idea where to look next?
